    Abstract : The identity of dark matter is one of the key outstanding problems in both particle and astrophysics. In this thesis, I describe a number of complementary searches for particle dark matter. READ MORE

  2. 2. Supersymmetric Dark Matter : aspects of sfermion coannihilations

    Author : Mia Schelke; Joakim Edsjö; Nicolao Fornengo; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Supersymmetry; Dark Matter; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : There is very strong evidence that ordinary matter in the Universe is outweighed by almost ten times as much so-called dark matter. Dark matter does neither emit nor absorb light and we do not know what it is. READ MORE

  3. 3. Searches for Dark Matter with IceCube and DeepCore : New constraints on theories predicting dark matter particles

    Author : Matthias Danninger; Klas Hultqvist; Patrick Decowski; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : The cubic-kilometer sized IceCube neutrino observatory, constructed in the glacial ice at the South Pole, searches indirectly for dark matter via neutrinos from dark matter self-annihilations. It has a high discovery potential through striking signatures. READ MORE

  4. 4. Effects of Dark Matter in Astrophysical Systems

    Author : Stefan Clementz; Mattias Blennow; Tommy Ohlsson; Riccardo Catena; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; Dark matter; Self-interactions; solar capture; helioseismology; inelastic dark matter; direct detection; indirect detection; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : When studying astrophysical structures with sizes ranging from dwarf galaxies to galaxy clusters, it becomes clear that there are vast amounts of unobservable gravitating mass. A compelling hypothesis is that this missing mass, which we call dark matter, consists of elementary particles that can be described in the same manner as those of the standard model of particle physics. 5. 5. Dark matter signal normalisation for dwarf spheroidal galaxies : A frequentist analysis of stellar kinematics for indirect Dark Matter searches

    Author : Andrea Chiappo; Jan Conrad; Piero Ullio; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dark matter; dwarf galaxies; kinematics and dynamics of galaxies; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Indirect detection strategies of Dark Matter (DM) entail searching for signals of DM annihilation or decay, typically in the form of excess positrons or high-energy photons above the astrophysical background, originating from (inferred) DM-rich environments. Due to their characteristics, dwarf spheroidal satellite galaxies (dSphs) of the Milky Way are considered very promising targets for indirect particle DM identification. READ MORE
