  1. 1. Synthetic Functionalities for Ion and Electron Conductive Polymers : Applications in Organic Electronics and Biological Interfaces

    Author : Tobias Abrahamsson; Magnus Berggren; Daniel Simon; Mikhail Vagin; David Bliman; Roger Gabrielsson; David Mecerreyes; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In the search for understanding and communicating with all biological systems, in humans, animals, plants, and even microorganisms, we find a common language of all communicating via electrons, ions and molecules. Since the discovery of organic electronics, the ability to bridge the gap and communicate be-tween modern technology and biology has emerged. READ MORE

  2. 2. Locating Wind Power Policy : The Mechanics of Policy Subsystem Interactions

    Author : David Newell; Simon Matti; Sverker Jagers; Charlotta Charlotta; Erik Hysing; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; policy analysis; policy implementation; advocacy coalition framework; network management; wind power; renewable energy; Political Science; Statsvetenskap;

    Abstract : This dissertation investigates the drivers behind political decision-making and the policy outcomes resulting from political decisions. It is proposed that in policy processes where political decisions are made at multiple levels or across multiple policy subsystems, policy outcomes can be understood in terms of the mechanisms (i.e. READ MORE

  3. 3. Living biohybrid systems via in vivo polymerization of thiophene oligomers

    Author : Gwennaël Dufil; Eleni Stavrinidou; Daniel T Simon; David C. Martin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Conducting polymers; Living tissue engineering; In vivo polymerization; Plant Biohybrids; Hydra polyps; Energy storage; Glucose sensor;

    Abstract : Life is the result of a multitude of electrical signals which drives our nervous system but also accomplishes a cascade of electrochemical reactions. In the 18th century, Lucia Galeazzi and Luigi Galvani got the idea to stimulate frog legs with electrodes. READ MORE

  4. 4. Elucidating the molecular basis of Na+/H+ exchange

    Author : Pascal F. Meier; David Drew; Simon Newstead; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; membrane protein; secondary-active transporter; Solute Carrier Transporter; ion-exchange; sodium proton exchanger; potassium proton exchanger; protein structure; cryo-EM; regulation; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : Solute carrier (SLC) transporters are membrane transport proteins, which catalyse the movement of nutrients, ions, and drugs across cell membranes. Here, I will present our contribution to understanding the mechanism of the sodium/proton exchangers (NHE), belonging to the SLC9 family of membrane transporters. READ MORE

  5. 5. Need for speed : towards urban planning for rapid transitioning to sustainable personal mobility

    Author : Varvara Nikulina; Henrik Ny; David Simon; Henrikke Baumann; Göran Broman; Ulf Ranhagen; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; personal mobility; urban planning; rapid transition; sustainability;

    Abstract : The Paris Agreement, the recent Special Report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and the Sustainable Development Goals are examples of United Nation’s facilitated calls for urgent climate action and more generally for a rapid transition of society towards sustainability. Since urban personal mobility is a significant contributor to society’s current sustainability challenges, and considering current trends of population growth and urbanisation, there is a strong need to develop enhanced support for urban planning for rapid transitioning to sustainable personal mobility.
