  1. 1. Pseudomyxoma Peritonei : Aspects of Natural History, Learning Curve, Treatment Outcome and Prognostic Factors

    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pseudomyxoma peritonei; Natural history; Learning curve; Cytoreductive surgery; Debulking surgery; Treatment outcome; Prognostic factors; PINCH;

    Abstract : Pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) is a rare disease characterized by mucinous peritoneal metastasis (PM). Different loco-regional treatment strategies, i.e. debulking surgery and cytoreductive surgery (CRS) in combination with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), have changed the prognosis for these patients. 2. 2. On Quality Improvement in Gynaecological Cancer Surgery

    Abstract : Objectives: The overall purpose of this thesis was to find medical and surgical treatment methods of improving the perioperative care of gynaecological cancer patients. The specific objectives were to determine whether a single dose tranexamic acid given immediately before surgery for presumed advanced ovarian cancer reduces perioperative blood loss and the need for blood transfusions, and to determine whether postoperative recovery, tissue damage, and inflammatory response markers differ between women operated with robotic and abdominal hysterectomy for low-risk endometrial cancer in an enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) programme, and to evaluate costs for hospital stay and postoperative recovery in relation to health impact. 3. 3. Centralized Ovarian Cancer Care - Complications, Costs and Survival

    Abstract : Background: Ovarian cancer is often diagnosed at advanced stages, and its mortality is high. Surgical treatment of advanced ovarian cancer strives toward complex primary debulking surgery (PDS), aiming for complete cytoreduction (R0) and improved survival. READ MORE

  4. 4. Advanced Ovarian Cancer. A multimodal diagnostic approach to predict outcome

    Author : Mihaela Asp; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Advanced ovarian cancer; multidisciplinary; tru-cut biopsy; frozen section; peritoneal cancer index; CT; primary debulking surgery; cytoreductive surgery; survival;

    Abstract : Primary debulking surgery (PDS) followed by platinum-based postoperative chemotherapy isthe standard of care for advanced ovarian cancer (AOC). Absence of macroscopic residualdisease after debulking surgery is the strongest prognostic factor achieved by surgery. READ MORE

  5. 5. Ovarian cancer : Treatment results, prognostic factors, and tumor marker surveillance

    Author : Thomas Högberg; Claes Tropé; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : The total population-based material of 426 ovarian malignancies in the Southeast Health Care Region of Sweden during 1984-1987 was surveyed. It seems that with a program of cytoreductive surgery followed by a cisplatinum chemotherapy combination in the metastasizing cases the overall survival figures have improved. READ MORE
