  1. 1. Computational Verification Methods for Automotive Safety Systems

    Author : Jonas Nilsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Active Safety; Automotive; Verification; Augmented Reality; Performance Evaluation; Decision Making; Semi-Autonomous Vehicles;

    Abstract : This thesis considers computational methods for analysis and verification of the class of automotive safety systems which support the driver by monitoring the vehicle and its surroundings, identifying hazardous situations and actively intervening to prevent or mitigate consequences of accidents. Verification of these systems poses a major challenge, since system decisions are based on remote sensing of the surrounding environment and incorrect decisions are only rarely accepted by the driver. 2. 2. Decision Making and Control for Automotive Safety

    Author : Mohammad Ali; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : This thesis proposes a novel automotive safety function that utilizes information about the host vehicle's state and the road ahead to predict and prevent unintended roadway departures. For this purpose predictive threat assessment, decision making and control algorithms are developed. READ MORE

    Abstract : Road traffic accidents are a major global problem, annually causing over 1.2 million fatalities. To improve road safety, active safety systems support the driver by monitoring the vehicle and its surroundings, identifying hazardous situations and actively intervening to prevent or mitigate consequences of accidents. Abstract : Road traffic accidents are one of the world’s largest public health problems. In the EU alone, traffic accidents cause approximately 1.8 million injuries and 43.000 fatalities each year. READ MORE

  5. 5. Filtering and modelling for automotive safety systems

    Author : Fredrik Sandblom; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; decision-making; automotive safety; sensor data fusion; motion models; radar sensor models; filtering theory; moment estimation;

    Abstract : This thesis makes five important contributions to the development of an automotive safety system: filtering algorithms, three modelling frameworks concerning the usage of radar detections in tracking, vehicle motion, and decision-making for intervention decisions, and finally the implementation architecture.In the filtering context, we have developed a new sigma-point method for estimating the moments of a transformed Gaussian random variable.
