  1. 1. On Monitoring and Control of Machining Processes

    Author : Mikael Bäckström; Anders Kinnander; Thomas Lundholm; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing engineering; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing Systems Engineering;

    Abstract : The thesis presents several aspects related to the industrial and academic activities associated with monitoring and control of the machining process and machine tools A survey of the industrial situation identified some key factors for a successful implementation of monitoring and control techniques. Applicable, relatively simple, systems for cutting-process monitoring and adaptive control are available on the commercial market today but the degree of industrial utilisation of the technique is low because the systems are experienced as hard to operate and use, and are at the same time considered unreliable. Author : Marcus Edstorp; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Arc Welding; Weld Pool; Multiphysics Simulations; Moving Boundaries; Free Surfaces; Mesh Motion; Two-Phase Flow; Incompressible Flow; Electromagnetics; Finite Element Methods; Applied mathematics; Tillämpad matematik; Manufacturing engineering; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik; Arc Welding; Weld Pool; Multiphysics Simulations; Moving Boundaries; Free Surfaces; Mesh Motion; Two-Phase Flow; Incompressible Flow; Electromagnetics; Finite Element Methods;

    Abstract : This investigation is devoted to the study of welding and its effect on the workpiece, focusing on the thermo and fluid dynamical phenomena occuring during a autogenous or nonautogenous arc fusion welding process. Its aim is to simulate the behaviour of the weld pool and analyze the consequence of the solid-liquid phase change, thus obtaining a methodology for predicting the appearance of weld defects related to solidification and cooling. 3. 3. Development of a Multidimensional Residual Distribution Solver for Large Eddy Simulation of Industrial Turbulent Flows

    Author : Doru Caraeni; Strömningsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermal engineering; High-Order Compact Schemes.; Compressible Flows; Parallel Computations; Multidimensional Residual Distribution Schemes; Large Eddy Simulation; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the results of the author's research activity to develop a time-space accurate flow-solver for Large Eddy Simulations (LES), based on the Multidimensional Residual Distribution approach. The aim of this work is the attempt to develop a compact high-order algorithm which includes multidimensional flow physics, in hope of creating a better algorithm for LES of turbulent compressible flows. 4. 4. Attitude and Trajectory Estimation for Small Suborbital Payloads

    Author : Yunxia Yuan; Nickolay Ivchenko; Gunnar Tibert; Rafael Wisnewski; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; free falling; least squares optimization; unscented Kalman filter; Flyg- och rymdteknik; Aerospace Engineering;

    Abstract : Sounding rockets and small suborbital payloads provide a means for research in situ of the atmosphere and ionosphere. The trajectory and the attitude of the payload are critical for the evaluation of the scientific measurements and experiments. READ MORE

  5. 5. Orthopaedic measurements with computed radiography. Methodological development, accuracy, and radiation dose with special reference to the weight-bearing lower extremity and the dislocating patella

    Author : Jan Sanfridsson; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; digital.; computer-assisted; Picture Archiving and Communication Systems; computed radiography; radiography; effective dose; radiation dosage; measurements; biomechanics; dislocating patella; musculoskeletal; patellofemoral joint; Knee joint; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this study was to develop and evaluate a measurement system for computed radiography (CR) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), permitting measurements of long distances and angles in and between related images. The developed measurement system, which was based on the QUESTOR Precision Radiography (QPR) system, was applied to the weight-bearing knee with special reference to the dislocating patella. READ MORE
