1. Interface-Assisted Perovskite Modulations for High-Performance Light-Emitting Diodes
Abstract : Metal halide perovskites have emerged as a class of promising materials for a wide range of optoelectronic devices. Compared with traditional inorganic and organic semiconductors, perovskite materials can be easily processed via solution-based techniques at low temperatures and exhibit high photo-luminescence efficiency, outstanding colour purity, and superior charge transport properties, showing great promise for cost-effective and high-performance light-emitting diodes (LEDs). 2. Synthesis and Applications of P-chirogenic Phosphine Boranes
Abstract : AbstractThis thesis reports the independent synthesis of both enantiomers of P-chirogenic phosphine ligands and the building blocks thereof, which are suitable for parallel synthesis efforts and for the generation of more diverse libraries of P-chirogenic compound. The use of P-chirogenic phosphine boranes in transition metal-catalyzed reactions, such as palladium-catalyzed allylic alkylation and amination, is also described. READ MORE

3. Regulation of Proton Coupled Electron Transfer from Amino Acids in Artificial Model Systems: A Mechanistic Study
Abstract : Amino acid radicals are key redox intermediates in several natural enzymes including Cytochrome c peroxidase, DNA photolyase, ribonucletide reductase, cytochrome c oxidase and photosystem II. Electron transfer from amino acids is often coupled to deprotonation and this thesis concerns the coupling of electron transfer from tyrosine and tryptophan to trisbipyridineruthenium(III) with deprotonation in model complexes. 4. Proton-Coupled Electron Transfer from Hydrogen-Bonded Phenols
Abstract : Proton-coupled electron transfer (PCET) is one of the elementary reactions occurring in many chemical and biological systems, such as photosystem II where the oxidation of tyrosine (TyrZ) is coupled to deprotonation of the phenolic proton. This reaction is here modelled by the oxidation of a phenol covalently linked to a Ru(bpy)32+-moitey, which is photo-oxidized by a laser flash-quench method. READ MORE

5. Surface reactions of natural illites from different origins
Abstract : Studies of natural illites from different origins were performed, including surface acid-base properties, determination of total inorganic carbonates, and spectroscopic investigations of chemical and structural nature as well as alterations of surface properties by acid-base titration. Using surface complexation model, the fitting results showed that the acid-base behavior of aqueous illite surfaces was dominated by deprotonation procedure. READ MORE
