  1. 1. Perceptual Surface Reconstruction

    Author : Jens Månsson; Kognitionsvetenskap; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; system; kontroll; Psychology; Psykologi; numerisk analys; Datalogi; systems; control; numerical analysis; Surface; Contour; Depth; Vision; Binocular; Computer science;

    Abstract : How does the brain transform the 2-D light arrays in our eyes into a meaningful 3-D description of surfaces around us? What assumptions does the visual system make about the world when information is incomplete? And how are these assumptions computationally expressed in this perceptual reconstruction process? These questions, and other aspects of binocular depth perception are analysed from a theoretical and computational perspective, as well as through empirical investigations. In paper one, the fundamentals of stereopsis are briefly reviewed, and the difficulties related with resolving the (stereo) correspondence problem are particularly discussed. READ MORE

  2. 2. An Intelligent Multi Sensor System for a Human Activities Space---Aspects of Quality Measurement and Sensor Arrangement

    Author : Jiandan Chen; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; 3D Reconstruction; Depth Measurement; Depth Reconstruction; Dither; Human Factor; Image Quality; Iso-disparity Surfaces; Multi-Sensor System; Quality Measurement; Sensor Arrangement; Surveillance; Tracking; Uncertainty;

    Abstract : In our society with its aging population, the design and implementation of a highperformance distributed multi-sensor and information system for autonomous physical services become more and more important. In line with this, this thesis proposes an Intelligent Multi-Sensor System, IMSS, that surveys a human activities space to detect and identify a target for a specific service. READ MORE

    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transcriptome reconstruction; transcriptome assembly; transcript isoform detection; Picea abies; acrocona; cone setting; differential expression; gene families; miRNA; quality assessment; transkriptomrekonstruktion; sammansättning av transkriptom; detektering av transkriptisoform; rödgran; kottegran; kottsättning; differentiellt uttryck; genfamiljer; kvalitetsutvärdering; miRNA; Biotechnology; Bioteknologi;

    Abstract : Transcriptome reconstruction is an important component in the bioinformatical part of transcriptome studies. When a reference genome is missing, highly fragmented or incomplete, a de novo transcriptome assembly is the transcriptome reconstruction approach of choice, since in such situations, a simple alignment (or mapping) would not necessarily give all theinformation concerning splice junctions, isoforms or even the full extent of the gene. 4. 4. Optimization Methods for 3D Reconstruction : Depth Sensors, Distance Functions and Low-Rank Models

    Author : Erik Bylow; Mathematical Imaging Group; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Computer Vision; 3D Reconstruction;

    Abstract : This thesis explores methods for estimating 3D models using depth sensors andfinding low-rank approximations of matrices. In the first part we focus on how toestimate the movement of a depth camera and creating a 3D model of the scene. READ MORE

  5. 5. Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction : Anatomic and biomechanical considerations of graft placement and fixation

    Author : Lars Good; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : This study, comprising 7 separate papers, is concerned with the mechanical causes of graft failure after intraarticular reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The study is predominantly experimental in design, but a clinical follow-up is also included to test a causal hypothesis of secondary graft elongation. READ MORE
