1. Field Programmable Gate Arrays and Reconfigurable Computing in Automatic Control
Abstract : New combustion engine principles increase the demands on feedback combustion control, at the same time economical considerations currently enforce the usage of low-end control hardware limiting implementation possibilities. Significant development is simultaneously and continuously carried out within the field of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). READ MORE

2. Active Vibration Control of Multibody Systems : Application to Automotive Design
Abstract : Active vibration control to reduce vibrations and structure borne noise is considered using a powerful multi-disciplinary virtual design environment which enables control system design to be considered as an integral part of the overall vehicle design. The main application studied is active automotive engine vibration isolation where, first, the potential of large frequency band multi-input multi-output H2 feedback control is considered. READ MORE

3. Ammonium based aeration control in wastewater treatment plants : Modelling and controller design
Abstract : Wastewater treatment involves many processes and methods which make a treatment plant a large-scaled and complex system. A fundamental challenge is how to maintain a high process efficiency while keeping the operational costs low. READ MORE

4. Development of a new service-oriented modelling method for information systems analysis and design
Abstract : This thesis presents a new modelling method for information systems analysis and design, where the concept of service and the principles of service orientation are used for integrated modelling and reasoning about information systems architectures across organisational and technical systems boundaries. The concept of service enables cohesion of the intersubjective and objective modelling traditions by using a single type of diagram that facilitates detection of semantic inconsistency, incompleteness, ambiguity and discontinuity between the static and dynamic aspects of information systems specifications. 5. On Kinematic Modelling and Iterative Learning Control of Industrial Robots
Abstract : Good models of industrial robots are necessary in a variety of applications, such as mechanical design, performance simulation, control, diagnosis, supervision and offline programming. This motivates the need for good modelling tools. In the first part of this thesis the forward kinematic modelling of serial industrial robots is studied. READ MORE
