  1. 1. The I in Design

    Author : Henrik Enquist; Certec - Rehabiliteringsteknik och Design; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; visualisation; rehabilitation; participatory design; methodology; design; artefact; autobiography;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the relations between objects, practices, and individuals. The main objective is to explore the role of artefacts in user-centred participatory design research, specifically for expressing and communicating personal experiences and creating meaning. READ MORE

  2. 2. The use of stone and hunting of reindeer : a study of stone tool manufacture and hunting of large mammals in the central Scandes c. 6000-1 BC

    Author : Lena Holm; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; High mountains; hunter-gatherers; use of resources; stone tool manufacture; reindeer hunting; landscape use; seasonality;

    Abstract : The thesis raises questions concerning prehistoric conditions in a high mountain region in central Scandinavia; it focuses on the human use of stone and on hunting principally of reindeer. An analysis of how the stone material was utilized and an approach to how large mammals were hunted result in a synthesis describing one interpretation of how the vast landscape of a region in the central Scandinavian high mountains was used. 3. 3. A first sketch of Computer Aided Ideation : Exploring CAD tools as externalization media in design ideation

    Author : Philip Ekströmer; Renee Wever; Johan Ölvander; Peter Törlind; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Even though Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools have changed the way designers work in most parts of the design process, designers still mostly use pen-and-paper sketching when generating design ideas. Previous studies exploring the use of CAD tools for design ideation have concluded that the tools available at the time did not support reflective conversation, serendipitous interpretation and creativity, making them unsuited for design ideation. Abstract : Heavily insulated constructions are at present being used to strike at the vast energy consumption in residential buildings and commercial alike. They introduce a high-thickness layer of thermal insulation in the building envelopes. READ MORE

  5. 5. Performance based concrete mix-design : aggregate and micro mortar optimization applied on self-compacting concrete containing fly ash

    Author : Sofia Utsi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis is dealing with the field of self-compacting concrete (SCC). SCC is supposed to fill the form properly and enclose the reinforcement without any external vibration. The fresh properties of such a concrete are thus essential. SCC was first introduced in Japan in the middle of 1980th. READ MORE
