  1. 6. Novel Processing and Electrical Characterization of Nanowires

    Author : Kristian Storm; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Gate; Capacitance; Hall effect; InP; InAs; Characterization; Nanowires; Processing; LED; Transistor; Fysicumarkivet A:2013:Storm;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates novel electrical nanowire characterization tools and devices. Conventional characterization methods, long available to bulk semiconductor samples, have been adapted and transferred to the nanowire geometry. READ MORE

  2. 7. Silicon nanowires, nanopillars and quantum dots : Fabrication and characterization

    Author : Robert Juhasz; Jan Linnros; Philippe M. Fauchet; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Silicon nanowires; silicon nanopillars; silicon quantum dots; size-reduction; thermal oxidation; electrochemical etching of silicon; photoluminescence; Semiconductor physics; Halvledarfysik;

    Abstract : Semiconductor nanotechnology is today a very well studied subject, and demonstrations of possible applications and concepts are abundant. However, well-controlled mass-fabrication on the nanoscale is still a great challenge, and the lack of nanofabrication methods that provide the combination of required fabrication precision and high throughput, limits the large-scale use of nanodevices. 4. 9. 3D Magnetic Photonic Crystals : Synthesis and Characterization

    Author : Mei Fang; K.Venkat Rao; Lyubov Belova; Rajeev Ahuja; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; magnetic photonic crystals; photonic band gaps; Fe3O4 nanoparticles; silica; Optical physics; Optisk fysik; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the synthesis methods and the characterizations of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles, silica spheres with Fe3O4 nanoparticles embedded, and three dimensional magnetic photonic crystals (MPCs) prepared from the spheres. The structure, material composition, magnetic and optical properties, photonic band gaps (PBGs), as well as how these properties depend on the concentration of the magnetic nanoparticles, are investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID), Faraday rotation (FR) and optical spectrophotometers.
