    Abstract : The Affects Towards And Perceptions Of The Self And Significant Others in Hemophiliacs and Diabetics The studies in this dissertation investigated the feelings towards and ways of perceiving the self and significant others in twenty-seven patients with hemophilia between the ages of 16-39 to discern how their perceptual-affect states are organized. Secondly, the relationship between bleeds and affect states was also examined. READ MORE

  2. 2. Genetics of Diabetes Subtypes. Characterization of novel cluster-based diabetes subtypes

    Author : Dina Mansour Aly; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Precision medicine; Diabetes Subclassification; genome-wide association studies; GWAS; genetic risk scores; GRS; chronic kidney disease; CKD; diabetic kidney disease; DKD; Estimated glomerular filtration rate; eGFR; ANDIS; diabetes; diabetics;

    Abstract : BACKGROUND: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) has been reproducibly clustered into five subtypes based on six-clinical variables; age at diabetes onset, body mass index (BMI), Glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibodies (GADA), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and insulin secretion and resistance estimated as HOMA2B and HOMA2IR derived from fasting glucose and Cpeptide. These subtypes have different disease progression and risk of complications. READ MORE

  3. 3. Data integration and visualization in type 2 diabetes research and care: From biological mechanisms to precision medicine

    Author : Olof Asplund; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Type 2 diabetes T2D ; human pancreatic islets; human skeletal muscle; transcriptomics; genomics; phenomics; ANDIS; diabetes; diabetics;

    Abstract : Background. Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a complex heterogeneous disorder affecting multiple organs. Gene expression studies in organs central to T2D, such as pancreatic islets and skeletal muscle will help elucidate and disentangle molecular mechanisms underlying T2D. READ MORE

  4. 4. Aspects of ethnicity on blood pressure regulating mechanisms and kidney function in a defined population

    Author : Christopher Nilsson; Allmänmedicin och samhällsmedicin; []

    Abstract : Background: Middle Eastern immigrants represent a growing population in Sweden today. This group are at higher risk for type 2 diabetes than the native population, but are also shown to exhibit unique properties; despite an abundance in traditional cardiometabolic risk factors such as obesity, dearranged blood lipids and diminished physical acitivity, this group seem to exhibit lower blood pressure levels. Abstract : Within a defined geographical area, all patients, 192 in total, with insulin- dependent diabetes of at least 2 years' duration and free from long-term diabetic complications were identified. Their experiences of the influence of the disease on daily living, tedium, and smoking habits were evaluated using a questionnaire and related to metabolic control. READ MORE
