1. Machinery diagnostic techniques for maintenance optimization
Abstract : One of the future challenges of machinery diagnostics and prognosticsis to prepare for the Internet of Things (IoT), where it is possible to change and improve existing approaches drastically. An intensifying application of the IoT will increase the use of embedded sensors and, therefore, create a demand for diagnostic tools where manual workis minimized and is mainly handled by smart algorithms. 2. Electroanalytical devices with fluidic control using textile materials and methods
Abstract : This thesis, written by Ingrid Öberg Månsson at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and entitled “Electroanalytical devices with fluidic control using textile materials and methods”, presents experimental studies on the development of textile based electronic devices and biosensors. One of the reasons why this is of interest is the growing demand for integrated smart products for wearable health monitoring or energy harvesting. READ MORE

3. Tethered Lipid Vesicles as Nanoscale Sensor Elements
Abstract : The primary aim of this thesis work has been to explore and advance the potential of surface tethered lipid vesicles as a platform for studying in particular the following three biomembrane-related processes: trans-membrane transport, membrane-peptide interactions and the activity of membrane active enzymes. First, a method based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) spectroscopy was developed for studying passive diffusion processes as well as the membrane-protein mediated transport of small non electrolyte molecules across lipid bilayers. 4. Laser-Based Techniques for Combustion Diagnostics
Abstract : Two-photon-induced Degenerate Four-Wave Mixing, DFWM, was applied for the first time to the detection of CO, and NH3 molecules. Measurements were performed in a cell, and in atmospheric-pressure flames. In the cell measurements, the signal dependence on the pressure and on the laser beam intensity was studied. READ MORE

5. Resonant Laser Techniques for Combustion and Flow Diagnostics
Abstract : This thesis presents results from two areas of research. Firstly, the resonant coherent laser techniques polarization spectroscopy (PS), degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) and stimulated emission (SE) have been developed in the general field of combustion diagnostics. READ MORE
