  1. 1. Radiography of the mandible prior to endosseous implant treatment. Localization of the mandibular canal and assessment of trabecular bone

    Author : Christina Lindh; [1996]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; trabecular pattern; bone mineral density; bone mineral content; tomography; panoramic radiography; radiography; mandible; endosseous implantation; Odontology; stomatology; Odontologi;

    Abstract : Mandibular autopsy specimens were examined with different radiographic techniques in order to evaluate the visibility of the mandibular canal and the measurement accuracy of distances related to the mandibular canal. Hypocycloidal, spiral and computed tomography (CT) were superior to periapical and panoramic radiography in visualising the mandibular canal. READ MORE

  2. 2. Orthopaedic measurements with computed radiography. Methodological development, accuracy, and radiation dose with special reference to the weight-bearing lower extremity and the dislocating patella

    University dissertation from Röntgenavdelningen, Lasarettet, 271 82 Ystad, Sweden

    Author : Jan Sanfridsson; [2001]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Clinical physics; digital.; computer-assisted; Picture Archiving and Communication Systems; computed radiography; radiography; effective dose; radiation dosage; measurements; biomechanics; dislocating patella; musculoskeletal; patellofemoral joint; Knee joint; radiology; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this study was to develop and evaluate a measurement system for computed radiography (CR) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), permitting measurements of long distances and angles in and between related images. The developed measurement system, which was based on the QUESTOR Precision Radiography (QPR) system, was applied to the weight-bearing knee with special reference to the dislocating patella. 3. 3. Impairment of intra-oral sensation, discrimination ability, and swallowing function following radiotherapy and surgery for oral and pharyngeal cancer

    University dissertation from Röntgenavdelningen, Lasarettet, 271 82 Ystad, Sweden

    Author : Ingrid Bodin; Umeå universitet.; [2004]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical sciences; Oral cancer; pharyngeal cancer; radiotherapy; surgery; intra-oral sensation; sensibility; swallowing; intra-oral discrimination; deglutition disorders; dysphagia; function; dysfunction; radiography; cineradiography; follow-up; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; diagnostisk radiologi; Diagnostic Radiology;

    Abstract : Oral and pharyngeal cancer is commonly treated with a combination of radiotherapy and surgery. It is a clinical knowledge that patients often experience severe swallowing disorders following treatment. Since surgical sequelae are instantaneous and obvious, little attention has been paid to other concurrent effects of the treatment. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ultrasound based shear wave elastography of the liver a non-invasive method for evaluation of liver disease

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå University

    Author : Marie Byenfeldt; Anders Elvin; Per Fransson; Odd Helge Gilja; [2020]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Anthropometric measurement; diagnostic imaging; elasticity imaging technique; blood supply; BMI; body position; fatty liver; liver disease; hepatic steatosis; liver fibrosis; liver stiffness; obesity; postural change; pressure; probe; sex characteristic; shear wave elastography; skin-to-liver capsule distance; transducer and ultrasonography; Radiography; radiografi;

    Abstract : Background: Detecting liver disease at an early stage is important, given that early intervention decreases the risk of developing cirrhosis and subsequently hepatocellular cancer (HCC). The non-invasive ultrasound-based shear wave elastography (SWE) has been used clinically for a decade to assess liver stiffness. READ MORE

  5. 5. Tomosynthesis in pulmonary cystic fibrosis

    University dissertation from Diagnostic Radiology, (Lund)

    Author : Kristina Vult von Steyern; [2013]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cystic fibrosis; Lung; Radiation dose; Radiography; Scoring methods; Tomography; spiral computed; X-ray computed;

    Abstract : The aims of this thesis were to investigate whether chest tomosynthesis might be used in pulmonary cystic fibrosis, to design and validate a tomosynthesis scoring system, and to determine the effective dose from chest tomosynthesis in children. In a prospective study starting in 2008 clinical chest radiography or computed tomography (CT) were supplemented with a tomosynthesis examination of the lungs. READ MORE
