  1. 1. Prefabricated composite bridges : a study of dry deck joints

    Author : Robert Hällmark; Ian May; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bridge construction; prefabrication; monitoring; Steel Structures; Stålbyggnad;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with prefabricated composite bridges in general, and prefabricated concrete deck elements with dry joints in particular.As outlined in Paper I and Chapter 2 prefabrication has several advantages over in situ construction, and has hence been discussed for decades in the construction business. 2. 2. Continuous Preventive Bridge Maintenance : Effect of High Pressure Washing on Concrete Bridges

    Author : Louise Andersson; Johan Silfwerbrand; Anders Selander; Ylva Edwards; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bridge maintenance; preventive maintenance; chloride ingress; high-pressure washing; Concrete Structures; Betongbyggnad;

    Abstract : In Sweden, as in many other countries, preventive maintenance of structures andbridges is considered important. It provides several benefits such as prolonged lifespan or service life, less need for repair, and hopefully reduced costs and lowerenvironmental impact.A large part of Sweden’s bridge stock is getting quite old. 3. 3. Restraint Effects in Concrete Bridges : A Study of Cracking due to Thermal Actions and Shrinkage in Portal Frame Bridges

    Author : Erik Gottsäter; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tvång; Betong; Uppsprickning; Temperaturlast; Plattrambro; FE-analys; Restraint; Concrete; Cracking; Thermal action; Portal frame bridge; FE-analysis;

    Abstract : Thermal actions and shrinkage cause volume changes in concrete structures. In structures which are restrained from movements, the restraint effects can cause cracking. However, when cracking occurs, the structure can deform to some extent, which reduces the restraint stresses and thus also the crack widths. READ MORE

  4. 4. Bridge Monitoring to Allow for Reliable Dynamic FE Modelling : A Case Study of the New Årsta Railway Bridge

    Author : Johan Wiberg; Håkan Sundquist; Raid Karoumi; Björn Paulsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bridge monitoring; FE modelling; signal analysis; torsion; warping; modulus of elasticity; natural frequency; damping; finite differences; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur;

    Abstract : Today’s bridge design work in many cases demands a trustworthy dynamic analysis instead of using the traditional dynamic amplification factors. In this thesis a reliable 3D Bernoulli-Euler beam finite element model of the New Årsta Railway Bridge was prepared for thorough dynamic analysis using in situ bridge monitoring for correlation. 5. 5. Foundations of educational buildings in Iraq : past, present and future

    Author : Entidhar Al-Taie; Rafid Alkhaddar; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Soil Mechanics; Geoteknik;

    Abstract : Foundation is considered as one of the main parts of any structure such as buildings, railways, bridges, etc. The type of foundation used is highly dependent on the type and properties of soil. READ MORE
