1. Spatially Distributed Hydrological Modelling : Wetness Derived from Digital Elevation Models to Estimate Peatland Carbon
Abstract : To study the hydrology of peatlands and explore wetness distribution is difficultmainly due to the complexity of the surface of peatlands, and also due to the presence of permafrost underlain peatlands in the arctic regions. I have chosen the area called Stordalen mire in the arctic region in northern Sweden for my study. READ MORE

2. A height datum for Uganda based on a gravimetric quasigeoid model and GNSS/levelling
Abstract : This study is devoted to the determination of a high resolution gravimetric geoid model for Uganda based on the optimal combination of terrestrial and satellite gravity anomalies using the method of Least Squares Modification of Stokes’ formula with additive corrections. Specifically the study investigates the current status of the existing Uganda Vertical Network relative to the requirements of a modern height datum and includes a detailed evaluation and validation of terrestrial gravity data, several digital elevation models and some recent global geopotential models. 3. Terrain Modelling with GIS for Tectonic Geomorphology : Numerical Methods and Applications
Abstract : Analysis of digital elevation models (DEMs) by means of geomorphometry provides means of recognising fractures and characterising the morphotectonics of an area in a quantitative way. The objective of the thesis is to develop numerical methods and a consistent GIS methodology for tectonic geomorphology and apply it to test sites. READ MORE

4. Global Pose Estimation from Aerial Images : Registration with Elevation Models
Abstract : Over the last decade, the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has increased drastically. Originally, the use of these aircraft was mainly military, but today many civil applications have emerged. READ MORE

5. Remote Sensing and GIS : Applications for Groundwater Potential Assessment in Eritrea
Abstract : An integrated approach with remote sensing, GeographicInformation Systems (GIS) and more traditional fieldworktechniques was adopted to assess the groundwater potential inthe central highlands of Eritrea. Digitally enhanced colorcomposites and panchromatic images of Landsat TM and Spot wereinterpreted to produce thematic maps such as lithology andlineaments. READ MORE
