11. Precise Gravimetric Geoid Model for Iran Based on GRACE and SRTM Data and the Least-Squares Modification of Stokes’ Formula : with Some Geodynamic Interpretations
Abstract : Iran is one of the most complicated areas in the world from the view of rough topography, tectonic activity, large lateral density and geoidal height variations. The computation of a regional gravimetric geoid model with high accuracy in mountainous regions, especially with sparse data, is a difficult task that needs a special attention to obtain reliable results which can meet the needs of the today geodetic community. 12. Model-Based Stem Volume Retrieval and Windthrow Detection using CARABAS and P-band SAR
Abstract : Radar remote sensing is an efficient method for monitoring forests over large areas. Radar waves transmitted from a system carried by a satellite or an aircraft interact with trees on the ground, and the reflected waves are used to form images which are independent of weather and light conditions. 13. Outcome and prevention strategies in peritoneal adhesion formation
Abstract : Peritoneal adhesions occur in up to 93% of adults after peritoneal trauma during surgery. Most adhesions are asymptomatic but can cause female infertility, small bowel obstruction (SBO) and chronic abdominal pain. Adhesion prophylaxis is needed to reduce the significant morbidity and increased health care costs resulting from peritoneal adhesions. READ MORE

14. The bank vole (Myodes glareolus) – a novel animal model for the study of diabetes mellitus
Abstract : The bank vole (Microtus arvalis) develops glucose intolerance both when kept in captivity and in the wild state. Glucose intolerant bank voles kept in captivity exhibited polydipsia, polyuria, hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, islet autoantibodies and a markedly changed islet structure resembling so–called hydropic degeneration. 15. Involvement of Membrane Transport Proteins in Intestinal Absorption and Hepatic Disposition of Drugs Using Fexofenadine as a Model Drug
Abstract : The aims of this thesis were to study the in vivo relevance of membrane transporters for intestinal absorption and the hepatic disposition of drugs in humans and preclinical models. Fexofenadine is a substrate for ABCB1 (P-glycoprotein) and members of the organic anion transporting polypeptide (OATP/SLCO) family. READ MORE
