  1. 1. Plasma Interactions with Icy Bodies in the Solar System

    Author : Jesper Lindkvist; Mats Holmström; Martin Wieser; Elias Roussos; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; plasma interactions; icy bodies; solar system; space physics; plasma physics; hybrid model; numerical model; solar wind; magnetosphere; sub-Alfvénic; subsonic; non-collisional; atmosphereless; exosphere; coma; subsurface ocean; induction; magnetic dipole; pick-up ion; mass-loading; moon; natural satellite; dwarf planet; comet; Jupiter; Jovian; Callisto; Ceres; 67P; Churyumov-Gerasimenko; rymd- och plasmafysik; Space and Plasma Physics;

    Abstract : Here I study the “plasma interactions with icy bodies in the solar system”, that is, my quest to understand the fundamental processes that govern such interactions. By using numerical modelling combined with in situ observations, one can infer the internal structure of icy bodies and their plasma environments. READ MORE

  2. 2. A Dipole Model for High Energy QCD

    Author : Christoffer Flensburg; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysicumarkivet A:2011:Flensburg;

    Abstract : This thesis considers a model of high energy particle collisions. The model is based on the so called BFKL formalism which is valid only at low x, that is collisions at very high energies, such as at the LHC. The intial state of the incoming particles are simulated by colour dipoles in transverse space evolved through rapidity. READ MORE

  3. 3. Diffraction in high-energy collisions

    Author : Christine Rasmussen; Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; QCD; Soft QCD; phenomenology; Diffraction; Multiparton Interactions; Dipole model; Initial state evolution; BFKL evolution.; Fysicumarkivet A:2019:Overgaard;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns itself with low-momentum-transfer processes in high-energy particle collisions. These processes cannot be described in the framework of the fundamental theory of quantum chromodynamics (QCD), but rely on a pre-QCD approach, the Regge theory. READ MORE

  4. 4. Sound generation in metal flue organ pipes: On the influence of asymmetric flue exit geometry and vibrations of the upper labium with particular emphasis on the early response

    Author : Matthias Scholz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : jet contraction; wall vibrations; CFD; jet velocity profile; tap tone; asymmetry of flue exits; operational deflection shapes; Coanda effect; yielding upper labium; modal analysis; bottom clamped cylinder; vibration measurements; metal flue organ pipes; dipole; initial jet formation;

    Abstract : Sound generation in flue organ pipes is caused by the non-linear interaction between an instable jet and a tube resonator. Our understanding of this very complex physical process is still incomplete, and there is not yet a model that can explain all details of the richness in pipe sound which can be achieved by a trained organ pipe voicer. 5. 5. EMC barriers : measurement methodologies and model verification

    Author : Urban Lundgren; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industrial Electronics; Industriell elektronik;

    Abstract : The subject of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is introduced. A short overview of the regulatory EMC requirements in Europe and in the United States is presented. An explanation is given why it is important for people in the electronics business to understand the need for EMC regulations. READ MORE
