  1. 1. Numerical Simulations of Long Spark and Lightning Attachment

    Author : Liliana Arevalo; Vernon Cooray; Dan Windmar; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; breakdown; discharge; leader channel; lightning attachment; negative discharge; positive discharge; streamer; Electrical engineering; Elektroteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Atmospheric Discharges; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot atmosfäriska urladdningar;

    Abstract : The research work presented here is concerned with numerical simulations of two different electrical phenomena: Long gap electrical discharges under switching impulses and the lightning attachment process associated with positive upward leaders. The development of positive upward leaders and the progression of discharges in long gaps are attributable to two intertwined physical phenomena, namely, the leader channel and the streamer zone. 2. 2. CFD and data-driven modeling for safe spillway discharge

    Author : Shicheng Li; Anders Ansell; James Yang; Robert Boes; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Discharge safety; hydraulic design; spillway; discharge capacity; aerator; two-phase flow; air entrainment; energy dissipation; CFD; data-driven modeling; Betongbyggnad; Concrete Structures;

    Abstract : A spillway is a crucial dam structure that regulates water levels and prevents the dam from overtopping. The majority of the dams in the world were constructed before the 1980s. Compared to the current design flood standards, many spillways are undersized, e.g. READ MORE

  3. 3. Robust Water Balance Modeling with Uncertain Discharge and Precipitation Data : Computational Geometry as a New Tool

    Author : José-Luis Guerrero; Sven Halldin; Stefan Uhlenbrook; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Alpha shape; Convex hull; Depth function; Discharge; Hydrological models; Honduras; Model calibration; Parameter-value estimation; Precipitation; Rating curve; Robust; Robustness; Uncertainty estimation; Water resources.; Alfaform; avbördningskurva; djupfunktion; Honduras; hydrologiska modeller; konvext hölje; modellkalibrering; nederbörd; osäkerhetsskattning; parametervärdesskattning; robust; robusthet; vattenföring; vattenresurser; Hydrology; Hydrologi;

    Abstract : Models are important tools for understanding the hydrological processes that govern water transport in the landscape and for prediction at times and places where no observations are available. The degree of trust placed on models, however, should not exceed the quality of the data they are fed with. READ MORE

  4. 4. Multipactor in low pressure gas and in nonuniform rf field structures

    Author : Richard Udiljak; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; detection methods; iris; low pressure gas; coax; nonuniform fields; Multipactor; microwave discharge; breakdown; discharge;

    Abstract : Resonant electron multiplication in vacuum, multipactor, is analysed for several geometries where the RF electric field is nonuniform. In particular, it is shown that the multipactor behaviour in a coaxial line is both qualitatively and quantitatively different from that observed with the conventionally used simple parallel-plate model. 5. 5. Implementing video conferencing in discharge planning sessions : leadership and organizational culture when designing IT support for everyday work in nursing practice

    Author : Malin Hofflander; Sara Eriksén; Christel Borg; Isabella Scandurra; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Applied health technology; Discharge planning; Healthcare; Implementation; IT solutions; Video conferencing; Qualitative research;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis has been to study the implementation process concerning the use of video conferencing in discharge planning, during and after a development project in a region in southeast Sweden. The research approach has been developed within a new interdisciplinary research area, Applied Health Technology. READ MORE
