  1. 1. Optical Characterization and Optimization of Display Components : Some Applications to Liquid-Crystal-Based and Electrochromics-Based Devices

    Author : Iryna Valyukh; Claes-Göran Granqvist; Ewa Wäckelgård; Hans Arwin; Ola Hundery; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ellipsometry; liquid crystal; LCD; optical anizotropy; electrochromic; inverse problems; Optics; Optik; Optical physics; Optisk fysik; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys; Solid State Physics; fasta tillståndets fysik; Information Systems; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : This dissertation is focused on theoretical and experimental studies of optical properties of materials and multilayer structures composing liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and electrochromic (EC) devices. By applying spectroscopic ellipsometry, we have determined the optical constants of thin films of electrochromic tungsten oxide (WOx) and nickel oxide (NiOy), the films’ thickness and roughness. 2. 2. Novel architectures for flexible electrochemical devices and systems

    Author : Jun Kawahara; Peter Andersson Ersman; Magnus Berggren; Frederik C. Krebs; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Electrically conducting polymers were discovered in the late 1970s. This finding generated a whole new research area named organic electronics, an area which has attracted great interest and tremendous achievements, in terms of devices and applications, have been reached by different research groups all over the world. 3. 3. Electrochromic Properties of Iridium Oxide Based Thin Films

    Author : Jonas Backholm; Gunnar A. Niklasson; Andris Azens; Franco Decker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Engineering physics; Electrochromism; iridium oxide; hydrogen intercalation; chemical diffusion coefficient; density of states; optical modulation; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : Electrochromic iridium oxide (IrOx) and iridium-tantalum oxide (IrTaOx) thin films were prepared by reactive magnetron sputtering. Composition, density, and structure were determined using Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and electron energy loss spectroscopy. 4. 4. All-Thin-Film Electrochromic Devices for Optical and Thermal Modulation

    Author : Anna-Lena Larsson; Gunnar A Niklasson; Lars Stenmark; Michael G Hutchins; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik; Engineering physics; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : The optical properties of electrochromic materials can be changed by application of an electrical voltage. The conventional electrochromic device consists of several thin films of electrochromic materials and layers for electron- and ion conduction. READ MORE
