  1. 1. Distal Radius Fractures : aspects on radiological and clinical outcome and evaluation of a new classification system

    Author : Mats Wadsten; Göran Sjödén; Magnus Tägil; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Distal radius fracture; Buttazzoni classification; volar; comminution; reliability; radiological outcome; clinical outcome; late displacement; ortopedi; Orthopaedics;

    Abstract : Distal radius fracture (DRF) is the most common fracture encountered in clinical practice. Every year, more than 20000 people in Sweden suffer from this injury. It has been shown that there is a correlation between malalignment and function following distal radial fractures and malunion may cause persistent pain and disability. READ MORE

  2. 2. Factors in secondary prevention subsequent to distal radius fracture : Focus on physical function, co-morbidity, bone mineral density and health-related quality of life

    Author : Helena Nordvall; Jack Lysholm; Gunnevi Sundelin; Margareta Möller; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; distal radius fracture; bone mineral density BMD ; functional tests; mortality; morbidity; the SF-36; fall diary; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi;

    Abstract : In Sweden approximately 25000 distal radius fractures occur annually, which is 37 % of all fractures related to osteoporosis. In this thesis, risk factors for osteoporosis, bone mineral density (BMD) and health-related quality of life (the SF-36) were compared in patients who suffered a distal radius fracture after low energy trauma with a control group matched on the basis of age, gender, and municipality of residence. 3. 3. Fractures of the distal radius : Factors related to radiographic evaluation, conservative treatment and fracture healing

    Author : Albert Christersson; Sune Larsson; Bengt Sandén; Karl-Åke Jansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Distal radius fractures (DRFs) are one of the most common injuries encountered in orthopaedic practise. Such fractures are most often treated conservatively, but surgical treatment has become increasingly common. READ MORE

  4. 4. Periulnar Injuries Associated with Distal Radius Fractures

    Author : Johan Scheer; Adolfsson Lars; Magnus Tägil; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Triangular fibrocartilage complex; Distal radius fractures; Wrist injuries; Distal radioulnar joint; Ulnocarpal stability; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Residual dysfunction after a fracture of the distal radius is most often mild but may give rise to significant impairment especially in the younger active population. The symptoms often manifest around the distal ulna when loading the hand or rotating the forearm. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fracture of the distal radius - outcome, primary surgery and treatment of malunion

    Author : Antonio Abramo; Lund Ortopedi; []

    Abstract : A consensus protocol for treatment of distal radius fractures (DRF) has been developed to aid clinicians in treatment decision making. The protocol was evaluated in Paper I using a validated subjective outcome instrument, DASH in 518 consecutive patients. READ MORE
