  1. 6. Improved Self-Consumption of Photovoltaic Electricity in Buildings : Storage, Curtailment and Grid Simulations

    Author : Rasmus Luthander; Joakim Widén; Joakim Munkhammar; Ewa Wäckelgård; Nicholas Etherden; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Photovoltaics; Solar energy; Self-consumption; Grid integration; Distributed generation; Energy storage; Curtailment; Power system; Engineering Science with specialization in Solid State Physics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot fasta tillståndets fysik;

    Abstract : The global market for photovoltaics (PV) has increased rapidly: during 2014, 44 times more was installed than in 2004, partly due to a price reduction of 60-70% during the same time period. Economic support schemes that were needed to make PV competitive on the electricity market have gradually decreased and self-consumption of PV electricity is becoming more interesting internationally from an economic perspective. 2. 7. Solar Variability Assessment in the Built Environment : Model Development and Application to Grid Integration

    Author : David Lingfors; Joakim Widén; Jan Kleissl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Solar Variability; Photovoltaics; Grid Integration; Distributed Generation; LiDAR; GIS; Engineering Science; Teknisk fysik;

    Abstract : During the 21st century there has been a rapid increase in grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) capacity globally, due to falling system component prices and introduction of various economic incentives. To a large extent, PV systems are installed on buildings, which means they are widely distributed and located close to the power consumer, in contrast to conventional power plants. READ MORE

  3. 8. On Optimization Based Control of Distributed Energy Resources in Power Systems: Electricity Markets and Voltage Regulation Perspectives

    Author : Pavan Balram; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; model predictive control and distribution systems; Electric vehicles; electricity markets; coordinated voltage control; battery energy storage; photovoltaics;

    Abstract : Distributed energy resources are increasingly being integrated into power systems around the world. These resources, typically connected at the distribution system level, are already changing the pattern of power flow from being unidirectional to multidirectional. READ MORE

  4. 9. The role of Swedish single-family dwellings in the electricity system - The importance and impacts of solar photovoltaics, demand response, and energy storage

    Author : Emil Nyholm; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electricity system models; Electric space heating; Batteries; Demand response; Single-family dwellings; Demand side management; Optimization; Solar photovoltaics; Distributed generation;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the role Swedish single-family dwellings can play in the electricity system. Both through becoming electricity producers through the use of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, and the possibilities of demand response (DR) and energy storage in combination with this, and through the DR of electric space heating in the dwellings. Abstract : Semiconductor nanowires show a great deal of promise for applications in a wide range of important fields, including photovoltaics, biomedicine, and information technology. Developing these exciting applications is strongly dependent on understanding the fundamental properties of nanowires, such as their optical resonances and absorption spectra. READ MORE
