  1. 1. Distributed thermal response tests : New insights on U-pipe and Coaxial heat exchangers in groundwater-filled boreholes

    Author : José Acuña; Björn Palm; Jeffrey Spitler; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Borehole heat exchangers; Distributed Thermal Response Test; Ground Source Heat Pumps; Coaxial; U-pipe; Multi-pipe; Pipe-in-pipe; Multi-chamber; Groundwater; Thermosyphon; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Abstract : U-pipe Borehole Heat Exchangers (BHE) are widely used today in ground source heating and cooling systems in spite of their less than optimal performance. This thesis provides a better understanding on the function of U-pipe BHEs and Investigates alternative methods to reduce the temperature difference between the circulating fluid and the borehole wall, including one thermosyphon and three different types of coaxial BHEs. 2. 2. Rock Mass Response to Coupled Mechanical Thermal Loading : Äspö Pillar Stability Experiment, Sweden

    Author : J. Christer Andersson; Håkan Stille; Charles Fairhurst; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Yielding; Spalling; Rock mass strength; Confinement; Fracturing; Tensile failure; Shear failure; Displacement; Acoustic Emission; Heating; Stress; Back calculation; Radial expansion; Mining engineering; Gruvteknik;

    Abstract : The geological disposal of nuclear waste, in underground openings and the long-term performance of these openings demand a detailed understanding of fundamental rock mechanics. A full scale field experiment: Äspö Pillar Stability Experiment was conducted at a depth of 450 m in sparsely fractured granitic rock to examine the rock mass response between two deposition holes. Abstract : The sales of Ground Source Heat Pumps in Sweden and many other countries are having a rapid growth in the last decade. Today, there are approximately 360 000 systems installed in Sweden, with a growing rate of about 30 000 installations per year. READ MORE

  4. 4. Well Testing, Methods and Applicability

    Author : Jan-Erik Rosberg; Teknisk geologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; slug tests; well completion; re-injection; Well testing; pumping tests; injection tests; well development; pneumatic initiation; hydro-jetting; coiled tubing; tunnel lining; deep wells;

    Abstract : Well testing is widely used today in water wells, oil and gas wells, for geothermal applications, within civil engineering projects, thermal storage and CO2 storage. The overall testing goal is to verify the productivity from a well and/or for characterization of hydraulic and thermal properties, as well as the spatial limitations of an aquifer. READ MORE

  5. 5. Isothiocynates as skin sensitizers. Bioactivation and distribution in skin and draining lymph nodes

    Author : Kristin Samuelsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Development of contact dermatitis can be caused by electrophilic compounds (haptens) or prohaptens that come into contact with the skin. A prohapten is a compound seemingly harmless at first sight that can be transformed into reactive metabolites by metabolizing enzymes in the skin to become a hapten. READ MORE
