  1. 1. Distributed engineering : tools and methods for collaborative product development

    Author : Peter Törlind; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Datorstödd maskinkonstruktion; Computer Aided Design; Funktionella produkter; Functional Product Development;

    Abstract : Engineering design is fundamentally social, requiring much interaction and communication between the people involved. Additionally, good design often relies upon the ability of a cross-functional team to create a shared understanding of the task, the process, and the respective roles of its members. READ MORE

  2. 2. Distributed k-ary System: Algorithms for Distributed Hash Tables

    Author : Ali Ghodsi; Seif Haridi; Alexander Reinefeld; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; distributed hash tables; structured overlay networks; distributed algorithms; distributed systems; group communication; replication; Computer science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents algorithms for data structures called distributed hash tables (DHT) or structured overlay networks, which are used to build scalable self-managing distributed systems. The provided algorithms guarantee lookup consistency in the presence of dynamism: they guarantee consistent lookup results in the presence of nodes joining and leaving. READ MORE

  3. 3. Distributed Optimization and Control : Primal--Dual, Online, and Event-Triggered Algorithms

    Author : Xinlei Yi; Karl H. Johansson; Dimos V. Dimarogonas; John S. Baras; Antonis Papachristodoulou; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; NATURAL SCIENCES; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Distributed nonconvex optimization; distributed online convex optimization; distributed event-triggered control; primal-dual algorithm; stochastic gradient descent; zeroth-order algorithm; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : In distributed optimization and control, each network node performs local computation based on its own information and information received from its neighbors through a communication network to achieve a global objective. Although many distributed optimization and control algorithms have been proposed, core theoretical problems with important practical relevance remain. READ MORE

  4. 4. Distributed Technology-Sustained Pervasive Applications

    Author : Kim J.L. Nevelsteen; Theo Kanter; Rahim Rahmani; Kåre Synnes; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pervasive; games; engine; distributed; virtual; world; internet of things; Computer and Systems Sciences; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : Technology-sustained pervasive games, contrary to technology-supported pervasive games, can be understood as computer games interfacing with the physical world. Pervasive games are known to make use of ‘non-standard input devices’ and with the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), pervasive applications can be expected to move beyond games. READ MORE

  5. 5. Distributed Immersive Participation : Realising Multi-Criteria Context-Centric Relationships on an Internet of Things

    Author : Jamie Walters; Theo Kanter; Roch Glitho; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : Advances in Internet-of-Things integrate sensors and actuators in everyday items or even people transforming our society at an accelerated pace. This occurs in areas such as agriculture, logistics, transport, healthcare, and smart cities and has created new ways to interact with and experience entertainment, (serious) games, education, etc. READ MORE
