  1. 16. Asymptotics of random matrices and matrix valued processes

    Author : Stefan Israelsson; Kurt Johansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematics; Random matrices; singular interaction; spectral distribution; fluctuation limit; distribution valued processes; MATEMATIK; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK; matematisk statistik; Mathematical Statistics;

    Abstract : This thesis contains three parts. In the first two papers we consider spectral properties of symmetric matrices with elements consisting of independent Ornstein Uhlenbeck processes. The eigenvalues behave as a particle system on the real line with singular interaction consisting of electrostatic repulsion and a linear restoring force. READ MORE

  2. 17. Two-Line Atomic Fluorescence for Thermometry in Reactive Flows

    Author : Jesper Borggren; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : Two-line atomic fluorescence; thermometry; Laser spectroscopy; Diode laser; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Borggren;

    Abstract : Advances in the field of laser-based combustion diagnostics over the past decades have allowed for detailed characterisation, modelling and increased understanding of the complex combustion process. However; many combustion phenomena are still unexplained and there is a continued need for development and application of diagnostic tools to further the understanding of the combustion process. 3. 18. On-line Electrochemistry Electrospray Ionisation Mass Spectrometry : Method Development and Applications

    Author : Camilla Zettersten; Leif Nyholm; Per Sjöberg; Andries P. Bruins; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with studies of on-line electrochemistry electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (EC/ESI-MS). It is shown that the use of EC/ESI-MS demands optimal coupling characteristics. Pre-concentration and desalting, due to matrix exchange, were demonstrated for the model substance 1-hexanethiol in an EC/ESI-MS setup. READ MORE

  4. 19. The cell wall ultrastructure of wood fibres : effects of the chemical pulp fibre line

    Author : Jesper Fahlén; Ulf W. Gedde; Drek G. Gray; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; atomic force microscopy; cellulose; cell wall; drying; fiber; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : Knowledge of the ultrastructural arrangement within wood fibres is important for understanding the mechanical properties of the fibres themselves, as well as for understanding and controlling the ultrastructural changes that occur during pulp processing. The object of this work was to explore the use of atomic force microscopy (AFM) in studies of the cell wall ultrastructure and to see how this structure is affected in the kraft pulp fibre line. 5. 20. Immune cells in human pharyngeal and palatine tonsils and in the uvula : tissue distribution, cellular composition and functional properties

    Author : Katarina Olofsson; Marie-Louise Hammarström; Sten Hellström; Britta Rynnel-Dagöö; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The adenoid (pharyngeal tonsil), the palatine tonsils and the uvula are strategically located at the entrance of the upper airodigestive tract. By virtue of their location they are incessantly exposed to inhaled and ingested antigens. READ MORE
