  1. 11. Reproducibility and interpretation in tissue Doppler echocardiography

    Author : Camilla Storaa; KTH; []
    Keywords : ultrasound; echocardiography;

    Abstract : As cardiovascular disease is the single most common cause ofdeath in the western world, and since there is a closeconnection between cardiovascular disease and left ventricular(LV) function, good methods for the assessment of LV functionis highly needed. A widely used tool for the diagnosis of LVdisease is echocardiography, a technique which today faces twodi_culties; the low reproducibility and the subjectiveinterpretation. READ MORE

  2. 12. Performance testing of ultrasound Doppler equipment

    Author : Andrew Walker; Per Ask; Ivar Ringqvist; Bengt Wranne; Monica Almqvist; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Blood and tissue velocities are measured and analysed in cardiac, vascular and other applications of diagnostic ultrasound. Errors in system performance might give invalid measurements.We developed two moving string test targets (“Doppler phantoms”) to characterise ultrasound Doppler systems. READ MORE

  3. 13. Non-invasive ultrasound-based cardiovascular imaging in mouse models of atherosclerosis

    Author : Julia Grönros; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : atherosclerosis; ultrasound-based imaging; cardiovascular disease; coronary artery; mouse; color Doppler echocardiography; ultrasound biomicroscopy; statin;

    Abstract : Atherosclerosis is a chronic multi-factorial vascular disease. It generally requires large clinical settings and over many years to study the disease progression in man. Genetically modified mouse models of atherosclerosis have dramatically increased research feasibility within this area. READ MORE

  4. 14. Three - dimensional ultrasound studies of the cervix in pregnancy

    Author : Linas Rovas; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; Prostaglandin .; Labor induction .; Spontaneous delivery .; Pregnancy .; Cervix uteri .; Blood flow indices .; Doppler ultrasound .; Three-dimensional imaging .; sexuality; reproduction; Obstetrik; sexualitet; reproduktion; gynekologi; andrologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate cervical physiological changes by three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound during pregnancy and to investigate the ability of 3D power Doppler to predict time to spontaneous and induced delivery in prolonged pregnancy. The thesis is based on five studies: reproducibility of cervical measurements by 3D power Doppler ultrasound (study I), reference data representative normal findings of the cervix assessed by 3D ultrasound during pregnancy (studies II, III) and the ability of 3D power Doppler to predict time to spontaneous and induced delivery in prolonged pregnancy. 5. 15. Fractional moving blood volume in fetal organs estimated using power Doppler ultrasound

    Author : Edgar Hernandez-Andrade; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reproduction; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet; fetal adrenal gland; fetal lung; radionuclear microspheres; fetal lamb; perfusion; fetus; Power Doppler ultrasound; fractional moving blood volume;

    Abstract : Power Doppler ultrasound (PDU) is a sensitive technique to detect slow blood movement. The aim of the present study was to develop a standardized method for quantification of the PDU signals recorded from a specific region of interest (ROI) within fetal organs. READ MORE
