  1. 1. Quantification and Visualization of Cardiovascular Function using Ultrasound

    Author : Matilda Larsson; Lars-Åke Brodin; Hans Torp; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ultrasound; Tissue Doppler imaging; Speckle tracking imaging; cardiovascular function; visualization; quantification; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Abstract : There is a large need for accurate methods detecting cardiovascular diseases, since they are one of the leading causes of mortality in the world, accounting for 29.3% of all deaths. READ MORE

  2. 2. Non-invasive ultrasound-based cardiovascular imaging in mouse models of atherosclerosis

    Author : Julia Grönros; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : atherosclerosis; ultrasound-based imaging; cardiovascular disease; coronary artery; mouse; color Doppler echocardiography; ultrasound biomicroscopy; statin;

    Abstract : Atherosclerosis is a chronic multi-factorial vascular disease. It generally requires large clinical settings and over many years to study the disease progression in man. Genetically modified mouse models of atherosclerosis have dramatically increased research feasibility within this area. READ MORE

  3. 3. Power Doppler - Principles and Potential Clinical Applications

    Author : Anders Nilsson; PG Lindgren; Torbjörn Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Ultrasonography; Doppler studies; Power Doppler; Volume flow; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : The purpose of this work was to: a) Determine whether the amount of colour in a power Doppler image is dependent on the angle between the examined vessel and the soundbeam and/or on the velocity of the flow within the vessel; b) Investigate if a dependency on flow velocity could be used for the detection of volume flow differences and c) Define clinical applications utilising the improved sensitivity to low flow of PD.In the experimental studies (study I and II) a silicon tube in a water bath was insonated, the insonation angle and the volume flow changed and the resulting images stored, transferred to a personal computer and analysed with regard to the amount of colour present in the image. 4. 4. Imaging of coronary artery function and morphology in living mice - applications in atherosclerosis research

    Author : Johannes Wikström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : atherosclerosis; coronary artery; coronary flow velocity reserve; imaging; mouse; transthoracic Doppler echocardiography; ultrasound biomicroscopy;

    Abstract : Atherosclerosis in the coronary arteries is the major reason for myocardial infarction and cardiovascular death. In the clinic, several imaging systems make it possible to study coronary artery function and morphology non-invasively, such as transthoracic Doppler echocardiography (TTDE). READ MORE

  5. 5. Aspects on Imaging and Endovascular Treatment of Aortic Dissection and Aneurysm

    Author : Mats-Ola Eriksson; Rickard Nyman; Anders Wanhainen; Johnny Steuer; Mårten Falkenberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Aneurysms; aorta; stents; ultrasound; colour Doppler; vascular; interventional; aortic dissection; complicated; TEVAR; EVAR; re-intervention; survival; thrombosis; false lumen; aortic remodelling; Radiology; Radiologi;

    Abstract : Aortic aneurysm and dissections are potentially life threatening conditions. The advent of endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) and thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) has reduced perioperative mortality and morbidity and are now established therapy methods for treatment of aortic disease.
