  1. 1. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) as a tool for analysis and communications of multidimensional data

    Author : Åke Sivertun; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Geographic Information Systems GIS ; Landscape Ecology; Artificial Drainage; Distributed Models; Environmental Change; Environmental Impact; Environmental Engineering; Landscape History; Drainage Technology; Historical Geography; Multidimensional and Multi-temporal Analysis; Hyperpixel; Colour Coding and Presentation of Multidimensional Data; Geografiska informationssystem;

    Abstract : An integrating approach, including knowledge about whole systems of processes, is essential in order to reach both development and environmental protection goals. In this thesis Geographical Information Systems (GIS) are suggested as a tool to realise such integrated models. READ MORE

  2. 2. Hydrological modelling of green urban drainage systems : Advancing the understanding and management of uncertainties in data, model structure and objective functions

    Author : Ico Broekhuizen; Maria Viklander; Günther Leonhardt; Jörg Rieckermann; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering; Centre - Centre for Stormwater Management DRIZZLE ; Centrumbildning - Centrum för dagvattenhantering DRIZZLE ;

    Abstract : The use of green urban drainage systems such as green roofs, swales and pervious areas has in recent years become a popular option to reduce flood risk and water quality problems in a more sustainable way than with traditional pipe-based drainage systems. Computer models are valuable tools for the management of such systems. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modelling of Substance Flows in Urban Drainage Systems

    Author : Stefan Ahlman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; urban stormwater; source control; modelling; diffuse pollution; BMPs;

    Abstract : Stormwater is recognised as a large contributor of toxic substances to receiving waters. Different measures to manage stormwater quality have been proposed, including structural and non-structural best management practices (BMPs). Computer models have become useful tools for the analysis, evaluation and design of these BMPs. READ MORE

  4. 4. Urban drainage and climate change : impact assessment

    Author : Karolina Berggren; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering;

    Abstract : According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC, 2007), the global mean temperature has increased by 0,7 °C during the last 100 years and, as a consequence, the hydrological cycle has intensified with, for example, more intense rainfall events. As urban drainage systems have been developed over a long period of time and design criteria are based upon climatic characteristics, these changes will affect the systems and the city accordingly. 5. 5. Uncertainties in rainfall-runoff modelling of green urban drainage systems : Measurements, data selection and model structure

    Author : Ico Broekhuizen; Maria Viklander; Günther Leonhardt; Manfred Kleidorfer; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering; Centre - Centre for Stormwater Management DRIZZLE ; Centrumbildning - Centrum för dagvattenhantering DRIZZLE ;

    Abstract : Green urban drainage systems are used to avoid flooding and damages to people and property, while limiting the downstream flooding and water quality problems caused by pipe-based drainage systems. Computer models are used to analyse and predict the performance of such systems for design and operation purposes. READ MORE
