1. Modeling Driver Behavior : A Control Theory Based Approach
Abstract : The aim of the project, which led to this thesis, was to suggest a micro-level driver behavior model, which would allow estimating the effects of safety measures on road traffic safety. The empirical research on driver behavior should be conducted in urban areas, because they are much less explored than rural areas, even though most non-fatal accidents occur in urban areas. 2. A Model of Driver Perception and Action in Intersections
Abstract : The objective of the research presented in this thesis is to describe driver behavior while approaching, entering and exiting an intersection. To fulfill this objective, two semi-naturalistic studies were conducted where ten driver participants drove a test vehicle through a three-way intersection repeatedly, driving straight, turning left, and turning right in a total of six possible passes. 3. Evaluating vehicle stability support systems by measuring, analyzing, and modeling driver behavior
Abstract : This thesis presents an investigation of near-accident behavior of truck drivers, with and without support from an electronic stability control (ESC) system. A critical scenario, involving both collision avoidance and vehicle stabilization on a low-friction surface, was studied in a driving simulator. READ MORE

4. Computational driver behavior models for vehicle safety applications
Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to investigate how human driving behaviors can be formally described in mathematical models intended for online personalization of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) or offline virtual safety evaluations. Both longitudinal (braking) and lateral (steering) behaviors in routine driving and emergencies are addressed. READ MORE

5. Data-Driven User Behavior Evaluation
Abstract : Automotive Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) compete worldwide to stand out with new trends and technologies. Automated Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are an example of advanced solutions where a lot of effort is put into the development and utilization of vehicle data. READ MORE
