1. Translational Tumor Drug Delivery : Doxorubicin formulation performance, intracellular uptake and molecular diffusion
Abstract : Globally, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common form of liver cancer and a leading cause of cancer death. One important risk factor is liver cirrhosis and the disease progression is characterized by deposition of extracellular matrix proteins that form a fibrous network, which increases liver stiffness and may limit the effectiveness of different treatment strategies. 2. Ceramic Materials as Drug Delivery Systems
Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to evaluate ceramic materials for drug delivery drugs applications. Three delivery routes were investigated; abuse-deterrent oral formulation, inhalation, and novel ceramic crystals with drug entrapped. A geopolymer matrix was developed in order to withstand non-medical abuse such as crushing, snorting, extraction etc. READ MORE

3. Nanoparticles for multifunctional drug delivery systems
Abstract : Multifunctional drug delivery systems incorporated with stimuli-sensitive drug release, magnetic nanoparticles and magnetic resonance (MR) T2 contrast agents is attracting increasing attention recently. In this thesis, works on polymer nanospheres response to temperature change, superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION)/polymeric composite materials for MR imaging contrast agents are summarized. 4. Microgels as drug delivery vehicles : loading and release of amphiphilic drugs
Abstract : Polyelectrolyte microgels are used as delivery vehicles for amphiphilic drugs in, e.g., treatments of liver cancer by a method called trans-arterial chemoembolization. READ MORE
