  1. 1. Microstructure and deformation behaviour of ductile iron under tensile loading

    Author : Keivan Amiri Kasvayee; Anders E.W. Jarfors; Ehsan Ghassemali; Lennart Elmquist; Kenneth Hamberg; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ductile iron; digital image correlation DIC ; in-situ tensile test; pit etching; Microscale deformation; micro-crack; finite elements analysis FEA ; cohesive elements;

    Abstract : The current thesis focuses on the deformation behaviour and strain distribution in the microstructure of ductile iron during tensile loading. Utilizing Digital Image Correlation (DIC) and in-situ tensile test under optical microscope, a method was developed to measure high resolution strain in microstructural constitutes. READ MORE

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the effect of microstructural variation on the mechanical properties and deformation behavior of ductile iron. To research and determine these effects, two grades of ductile iron, (i) GJS-500-7 and (ii) high silicon GJS-500-14, were cast in a geometry containing several plates with different section thicknesses in order to produce microstructural variation. 3. 3. P-T evolotion and High-temperature deformation of Precambrian eclogite, Sveconorwegian orogen

    Author : Lorraine Tual; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Eclogite; Precambrian; P–T path; Basal shear zone; Sveconorwegian orogen; Deformation; thermometry;

    Abstract : The 1.1-0.9 Ga Sveconorwegian orogen is one of several Grenvillian-aged orogenic belts that mark the amalgamation of supercontinent Rodinia. The highest-pressure rocks in the Sveconorwegian orogen are eclogites in the Eastern Segment (SW Sweden). READ MORE

  4. 4. Simulation of dynamic instabilities during high rate deformation of ductile bars and plates

    Author : Kristina Nilsson; Mekanik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; numerical simulation; non-linear; wave propagation; multiple necking; necking; buckling; fracture; Mechanical engineering; Maskinteknik; finite elements; cohesive elements; dynamic; J2-flow theory; J2-deformation theory; viscoplastic; background inertia;

    Abstract : In this thesis, some of the phenomena occurring in plates and cylindrical bars subjected to dynamic loading are investigated. Numerical simulations using a dynamic finite element code are performed for a number of different sized specimens with various initial surface imperfections. Typically imposed loading velocities are in the range 10m/s.. READ MORE
