  1. 21. Slipstream and Flow Structures in the Near Wake of High-Speed Trains

    Author : Tomas W. Muld; Gunilla Efraimsson; Dan S. Henningson; Chris Baker; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Train transportation is a vital part of the transportation system of today. Asthe speed of the trains increase, the aerodynamic effects become more impor-tant. One aerodynamic effect that is of vital importance for passengers’ andtrack workers’ safety is slipstream, i.e. READ MORE

  2. 22. Structural Control and Identification of Civil Engineering Structures

    Author : Tarek Edrees; Francesc Pozo; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Construction Engineering and Management; Byggproduktion; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : In general, the main purpose of a structural control system is to apply powerful control techniques that improve the behaviour of civil structures under various kinds of dynamic loading. The first part of this thesis presents novel applications of posicast and input shaping control schemes that have never previously been applied in the field of structural control. READ MORE

  3. 23. ON THE WAKE STRUCTURES OF FLOW AROUND DEFORMING AND VIBRATING BODIES

    Author : Alper Cesur; Strömningsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Large Eddy Simulation; Fluid-Structure Interaction; Vortex-induced Vibrations;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the study of Fluid-Structure interaction phenomena among deforming and (non-deforming) vibrating objects under unsteady fluid fl ow exposures. This multi-physical phenomenon is widely encountered in real-life situations and therefore it is of significant importance to understand the underlying physics. READ MORE

  4. 24. Flow Duct Acoustics : An LES Approach

    Author : Emma Alenius; Mats Åbom; Laszlo Fuchs; Oliver Paschereit; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aero-acoustics; duct-acoustics; sound generation; acoustic scattering; acoustic-flow interaction; LES; IC-engines; orifice plate; confined jet;

    Abstract : The search for quieter internal combustion engines drives the quest for a better understanding of the acoustic properties of engine duct components. Simulations are an important tool for enhanced understanding; they give insight into the flow-acoustic interaction in components where it is difficult to perform measurements. READ MORE

  5. 25. Integrated Motor Drives and Battery Chargers for Electric or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles

    Author : Saeid Haghbin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; maximum torque per Ampere strategy.; integrated motor drive and battery chargers; field-oriented control; battery charger; isolated and non-isolated integrated charges; Plug-in vehicles; split-phase PM motor;

    Abstract : Plug-in vehicles, electric vehicles or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, use grid power to charge the battery. The components in the traction circuit, like the electric motor and the inverter, are not used during the battery charging, so there is a possibility to use them in the charger circuit to reduce the size, weight and price of the on-board charger; that is called an integrated motor drive and battery charger or simply an integrated charger which can be galvanically isolated or non-isolated from the utility grid.
