  1. 11. Radio Resource Allocation and Utilization in Multiple Radio Access Networks

    Author : Georgios Koudouridis; Gunnar Karlsson; Frank H. P. Fitzek; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Meeting in a sustainable way the demands of an unprecedented explosive growth in the number of connected devices and mobile data traffic, next-generation mobile networks are expected to make flexible use of spectrum and provide higher capacity by a denser deployment of radio access network infrastructure. In addition, the allocation and the utilisation of radio access resources should improve spectrum usage efficiency and keep energy consumption low, implying the capability to effectively exploit the denser deployment of radio accesses and the co-existence of radio accesses belonging to one or multiple radio access technologies. 2. 12. Smart Cooperation with Network Coding in Hierarchical Wireless Networks

    Author : Nan Li; Lars Kildehöj Rasmussen; Daniel Lucani; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Wireless communications; Hierarchical networks; 5G; Cognitive radio; Internet of Things; Cooperative communications; Spectrum sharing; Network coding; Optimization; Performance analysis.; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : To achieve more dynamic, efficient and intelligent use of the scarce wireless spectrum resource, the concept of cooperation has been formalized into several hierarchical network models in future mobile networks. Cooperative communications, such as relaying, can potentially increase communication efficiency and spectrum utilization due to the broadcast nature of wireless networks, and may lead to a better support for diverse communication modes with flexible spectrum sharing.     Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Mobile broadband services have become a big success over the last several years. Innovative, smart handsets have caused explosive traffic growth which has led to a severe capacity shortage. READ MORE

  4. 14. On the Performance Assessment of Advanced Cognitive Radio Networks

    Author : Thi My Chinh Chu; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cognitive Radio Networks; Queueing Analysis; Cooperative Communications; Multiple-Input Multiple-Output MIMO ; Adaptive Modulation and Coding; Hybrid Interweave-Underlay Spectrum Access;

    Abstract : Due to the rapid development of wireless communications together with the inflexibility of the current spectrum allocation policy, radio spectrum becomes more and more exhausted. One of the critical challenges of wireless communication systems is to efficiently utilize the limited frequency resources to be able to support the growing demand of high data rate wireless services. 5. 15. On the Performance Analysis of Large Scale, Dynamic, Distributed and Parallel Systems

    Author : John Ardelius; Seif Haridi; Supriya Krishnamurthy; Mark Jelasity; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Performance analysis distributed systems; SRA - ICT; SRA - Informations- och kommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : Evaluating the performance of large distributed applications is an important and non-trivial task. With the onset of Internet wide applications there is an increasing need to quantify reliability, dependability and performance of these systems, both as a guide in system design as well as a means to understand the fundamental properties of large-scale distributed systems.
