1. Characteristic properties of two-dimensional superconductors close to the phase transition in zero magnetic field
Abstract : The main focus of this thesis lies on the critical properties of twodimensional (2D) superconductors in zero magnetic field. Simulations based on variants of the 2D XY model are shown to give characteristic features close to the phase transition which agree qualitatively with experimental data. READ MORE

2. Energy-Centric Scheduling for Real-Time Systems
Abstract : Energy consumption is today an important design issue for all kinds of digital systems, and essential for the battery operated ones. An important fraction of this energy is dissipated on the processors running the application software. To reduce this energy consumption, one may, for instance, lower the processor clock frequency and supply voltage. READ MORE

3. Dynamic Management of Multi-Core Processor Resources to Improve Energy Efficiency under Quality-of-Service Constraints
Abstract : With the current technology trends, the number of computers and computation demand is increasing dramatically. In addition to different economic and environmental costs at a large scale, the operational time of battery-powered devices is dependent on how efficiently the computer processors consume energy. 4. Energy Efficient Task Mapping and Resource Management on Multi-core Architectures
Abstract : Reducing energy consumption of parallel applications executing on chip multi- processors (CMPs) is important for green computing. Hardware vendors have been developing a variety of system features to support energy efficient computing, for example, integrating asymmetric core types on a single chip referred to as static asymmetry and supporting dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) referred to as dynamic asymmetry. 5. Techniques to Improve Energy Efficiency on Heterogeneous Multiprocessors under Timing and Quality Constraints
Abstract : Traditionally, applications are executed without the notion of a computational deadline and often use all available system resources, which leads to higher energy consumption. User specification of Quality of Service (QoS) constraints, in terms of completion time and solution quality, opens up for allocation of just enough resources to an application to finish just in time and thereby save energy.
