  1. 1. A Numerical Study of Reacting Flows Using Finite Rate Chemistry

    Author : Mohammad Irannezhad; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Combustion modeling; Lean blow off; Finite rate chemistry; Inlet boundary condition; Combustion; Lean premixed; Engine configuration; Pulse Detonation Engine; Emissions; URANS; Unsteady phenomena; Flame stabilization; Low Swirl Burner; Large Eddy Simulation; Dynamic flame; Working cycle;

    Abstract : Fossil fuels will remain the main source of energy for mankind in theforeseeable future. Heat released in combustion of fossil fuels is alwaysaccompanied by emission of undesired pollutants. Environmental concernshave led to stringent emission rules for combustion industry speciallyfor reducing the amount of NOx production. READ MORE

  2. 2. Combustion Characteristics of a Swirl Dry Low Emission Burner Concept for Gas Turbine Application : Experiments and Simulations

    Author : Atanu Kundu; Kraftverksteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Gas Trubine Combustion; Partially Premixed flame; Flame stabilization; Swirl Flow; Emission; Experiments; Combustor; CFD; PLIF; PIV; Chemiluminescence;

    Abstract : In the current global energy scenario, gas turbine can provide delicate balance between the booming worlds energy requirement and a pollutant free sustainable society. Cleaner combustion of fuel (particular natural gas), efficient, reliable, low maintenance and cost effective operation of gas turbine attracted scientific community to push the limit further (high efficiency and zero emission gas turbine). 3. 3. Interaction of sound waves with a swirl stabilized wood powder flame and their effects on flame characteristics

    Author : Burak Göktepe; Henrik Wiinnika; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Swirling flows have been widely used for many years in engineering applications such as; chemical and mechanical mixing devices, separation units, spray drying technologies, turbo machinery and combustion systems. In practical combustion applications, swirl motion has been adopted to the incoming reactant flows in order to enhance the mixing of fuel and oxidizer and to improve flame stabilization and establishment, especially in regions of relatively low velocities, by recirculating hot product gas to the incoming reactants. 4. 4. Utilization of Decomposition Techniques for Analyzing and Characterizing Flows

    Author : Christian Carlsson; Strömningsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Decomposition techniques; Proper orthogonal decomposition; Dynamic mode decomposition; Extended dynamic mode decomposition; Swirl switching; Swirling flow; Low swirl burner; Fluid-structure interaction;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the utilization of two different decomposition techniques, proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) and dynamic mode decomposition (DMD), for enhanced understanding of flow structures and their stability. The advantages of these techniques are shown for a range of flow situations, most of which are turbulent. READ MORE

  5. 5. New methods for determination of airborne pollutants : Focus on tetrabromobisphenol A, organophosphate triesters and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

    Author : Johanna Tollbäck; Ulrika Nilsson; Peter Haglund; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Air sampling; sampling methods; indoor air; SPE; SPME; extraction; dynamic extraction; online coupling; SWE; subcritical water extraction; GC MS; LC MS; organophosphate triesters; PAH; tetrabromobisphenol A; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis concerns the development and evaluation of new methods of sampling and analysis of organic pollutants in the indoor and outdoor environment. In Paper I, the development of a new method was reported for the determination of the brominated flame retardant tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) in air using sampling with glass fiber filter and polyurethane foam (PUF), ultrasonic solvent extraction and liquid chromatography coupled to electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (LC-ESI/MS).
