  1. 1. Structured Laser Illumination Planar Imaging SLIPI Applications for Spray Diagnostics

    Author : Elias Kristensson; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; signal attenuation; Multiple light scattering suppression; laser extinction; extinction coefficient; structured illumination; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Kristensson;

    Abstract : Laser sheet imaging, also known as planar laser imaging, is one of the most versatile optical imaging techniques known and is frequently applied in several different domains. It furthermore constitutes the basis for a variety of other 2D methods, in turn allowing visualization of e.g. velocity, particle size, species concentration and temperature. READ MORE

  2. 2. Dynamic local structural symmetries and luminescence properties of the yellow emitting phosphor Ce3+-doped Y3Al5O12

    Author : Yuan-Chih Lin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; free electron laser; neutron scattering; vibrational spectroscopy; phosphor; light emitting diode; luminescence; thermal quenching; garnet;

    Abstract : This thesis centers on investigations of the local structure and vibrational properties of the oxide garnet Y3Al5O12 (YAG), which when substituted with a few percent of the activator ion Ce3+ to replace Y3+ (Y3−xCexAl5O12, YAG:Ce3+) is one of the most important phosphors for solid state lighting. The study builds on a comprehensive analysis of the nature of the phonons and localized vibrational modes in YAG:Ce3+ and how these depend on the Ce3+ concentration and temperature and how they affect key optical properties, such as the intensity and frequency of the emitted light. 3. 3. A scattering study of concentrated lens protein solutions and mixtures - Towards understanding the molecular origin of presbyopia

    Author : Saskia Bucciarelli; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; scattering; eye lens; presbyopia; dynamical arrest; crowding; proteins; dynamics; crystallins;

    Abstract : Healthy eye lenses are transparent and flexible, able to adapt shape in order to focus on far away and close-by objects. With age, however, this flexibility is lost, leading to a condition known as presbyopia. This vision disorder where close-by objects appear blurred commonly starts around the age of 40. READ MORE

  4. 4. Origin and processing of laser Doppler spectra

    Author : Mikael Arildsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Laser Doppler Flowmetry (LDF) is a technique for studying microvascular blood flow. Laser light is guided to the tissue and the backscattered light, after being Doppler shifted by moving Red Blood Cells (RBCs), is detected using a heterodyne process. READ MORE

  5. 5. Modelling and strength grading of structural timber and glulam lamellae on the basis of optical scanning and dynamic excitation

    Author : Andreas Briggert; Anders Olsson; Jan Oscarsson; Mikael Perstorper; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fibre direction; finger joint; machine strength grading; knots; tracheid effect; Norway spruce; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Machine strength grading of sawn timber is a sawmill process in which density, modulus of elasticity (MOE) and bending or tensile strength are predicted such that the timber can be assigned to strength classes. The predictions of these properties are performed using one or several so-called indicating properties (IPs), which represent a board property, or combination of board properties, measured non-destructively.
