  1. 6. High-Temperature Behaviour of Austenitic Alloys : Influence of Temperature and Strain Rate on Mechanical Properties and Microstructural Development

    Author : Mattias Calmunger; Sten Johansson; Guocai Chai; Johan Moverare; Göran Engberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The global increase in energy consumption and the global warming from greenhouse gas emission creates the need for more environmental friendly energy production processes. Biomass power plants with higher efficiency could generate more energy but also reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, e.g. CO2. READ MORE

  2. 7. Deformation Behaviour of Near Fully Pearlitic Railway Steels During Monotonic and Cyclic Loading

    Author : Niklas Köppen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LCF; low cycle fatigue; Near fully pearlitic steels; work hardening; microstructure; tensile deformation; medium carbon steel;

    Abstract : The main conclusions that could be drawn from the present work are that the deformation behaviour of fully and near fully pearlitic steels is very similar and that a combination of low temperature, prestraining and high deformation rates is critical for the performance. This was shown from microscopy studies, tensile, impact and low cycle fatigue (LCF) testing. READ MORE

  3. 8. On Material Modelling of High Strength Steel Sheets

    Author : Rikard Larsson; Larsgunnar Nilsson; Odd-Sture Hopperstad; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; material modelling;

    Abstract : The work done in this thesis aims at developing and improving material models for use in industrial applications.The mechanical behaviour of three advanced high strength steel grades, Docol 600DP, Docol 1200M and HyTens 1000, has been experimentally investigated under various types of deformation, and material models of their behaviour have been developed. 4. 9. Influence of combined thermal and mechanical loadings on pearlitic steel microstructure in railway wheels and rails

    Author : Dimitrios Nikas; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Low cycle fatigue LCF ; Wheel steels; Hardness; TEM; Thermal effects; EBSD; Rail steels; Pearlite; Multiaxial fatigue; Spheroidisation; Materials Science;

    Abstract : One of the most important aspects in railway operation is the interaction between rail and wheel. The contact patch between these two components is around the size of a small coin, and since high loads act on this small area, stresses will give rise to wear and damage in both components. 5. 10. Effect of Temperature on Mechanical Properties of Railway Wheel Steels

    Author : Nikas Dimitrios; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materials Science; Materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : One of the most important aspects in railway operation is the interaction between rail and wheel. The contact conditions give rise to wear and damage in both components. Medium carbon steels are used in these components due to their combination of high strength and good wear properties in relation to cost. READ MORE
