  1. 1. Stereotyped B Cell Receptors in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia : Implications for Antigen Selection in Leukemogenesis

    Author : Fiona Murray; Richard Rosenquist Brandell; Kostas Stamatopoulos; Gunilla Enblad; Gerard Tobin; Manlio Ferrarini; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chronic lymphocytic leukaemia; immunoglobulin genes; somatic hypermutation; stereotyped B cell receptors; antigen selection; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : Biased immunoglobulin heavy variable (IGHV) gene usage and distinctive B-cell receptor (BCR) features have been reported in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL), which may reflect clonal selection by antigens during disease development. Furthermore, the IGHV gene mutation status distinguishes two clinical entities of CLL, where patients with unmutated IGHV genes have an inferior prognosis compared to those with mutated IGHV genes. 2. 2. Probabilistic Programming for Birth-Death Models of Evolution

    Author : Jan Kudlicka; Johannes Borgström; Thomas B. Schön; Lawrence M. Murray; Bret Larget; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; probabilistic programming; birth-death models; statistical phylogenetics; particle filters; sequential Monte Carlo SMC ; Computer Science; Datavetenskap;

    Abstract : Phylogenetic birth-death models constitute a family of generative models of evolution. In these models an evolutionary process starts with a single species at a certain time in the past, and the speciations—splitting one species into two descendant species—and extinctions are modeled as events of non-homogenous Poisson processes. 3. 3. Automating condition monitoring of vegetation on railway trackbeds and embankments

    Author : Roger G. Nyberg; Narendra K. Gupta; Mark S. Dougherty; Siril Yella; David J. Murray-Smith; Alistair Armitage; Högskolan Dalarna; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Complex Systems – Microdata Analysis; Komplexa system - mikrodataanalys;

    Abstract : Vegetation growing on railway trackbeds and embankments present potential problems. The presence of vegetation threatens the safety of personnel inspecting the railway infrastructure. In addition vegetation growth clogs the ballast and results in inadequate track drainage which in turn could lead to the collapse of the railway embankment. READ MORE

  4. 4. Characterization of Halftone Prints based on Microscale Image Analysis

    Author : Mahziar Namedanian; Sasan Gooran; Jon Yngve Hardeberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Ink spreading and lateral light scattering in the substrate affect the color of a halftone print. One of the most important phenomena which affects the print result is dot gain, meaning that printed dots appear larger than the dots in the digital bitmap. READ MORE
