  1. 1. Turbulent Forced Convection Air Cooling of Electronics with Heat Sinks Under Flow Bypass Conditions

    Author : Hans Jonsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : forced convection; heat transfer; pressure drop; turbulent; air cooling; bypass; plate; strip; pin; fin; heat sink; electronics; experimental; numerical; CFD; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Air cooling is still the dominant method for dissipating theheat produced by electronic components. In a typical electronicdevice, the components are situated on a Printed Circuit Board(PCB). For most applications natural convection is sufficientto cool the components. READ MORE

  2. 2. Wear characteristics of materials for artificial hip joints

    Author : Mohammed Seyed Hoseini Nazari; RISE; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HDPE; UHMWPE; Coating; Tribology; Pin-on-disc; Y-irradiation; Vitamin E; Wear; Implant; Artificial hip joint;

    Abstract : Total hip prostheses have succeeded in significantly improving the quality of life of millions of patients worldwide. Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) has been widely and successfully used as a bearing material in orthopaedic prostheses since the 1960s. READ MORE

  3. 3. A Tomographic Measurement Technique for Irradiated Nuclear Fuel Assemblies

    Author : Staffan Jacobsson Svärd; Anders Bäcklin; Ane Håkansson; Klaas van der Meer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; tomography; nuclear fuel; SPECT; core physics; validation; pin power; safeguards; partial-defect verification; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : The fuel assemblies used at the Swedish nuclear power plants contain typically between 100 and 300 fuel rods. An experimental technique has been demanded for determining the relative activities of specific isotopes in individual fuel rods without dismantling the assemblies. READ MORE

  4. 4. Synthesis, conformational analysis, and biological evaluation of peptides from E. coli P pilus proteins

    Author : Katarina Flemmer Karlsson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NMR spectroscopy; CD spectroscopy; peptide structure; ELISA; solid-phase peptide synthesis; peptide; P pili; chaperone; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : Many bacteria utilize hairlike protein appendages (pili) to attach themselves to mucosal cell surfaces in the host organism. The pilus is assembled from protein subunits synthesized inside the bacteria and transported to the outer cell wall for incorporation into the growing pilus. READ MORE

  5. 5. Silicon Carbide Technology for High- and Ultra-High-Voltage Bipolar Junction Transistors and PiN Diodes

    Author : Arash Salemi; Mikael Östling; Carl-Mikael Zetterling; Anders Hallen; Nando Kaminski; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Abstract : Silicon carbide (SiC) is an attractive material for high-voltage and high-temperature electronic applications owing to the wide bandgap, high critical electric field, and high thermal conductivity. High- and ultra-high-voltage silicon carbide bipolar devices, such as bipolar junction transistors (BJTs) and PiN diodes, have the advantage of a low ON-resistance due to conductivity modulation compared to unipolar devices.
