16. Molecular characterization of the cancer susceptibility protein wrap53β in Cajal body formation and DNA repair
Abstract : WRAP53β is a multifaceted protein involved in several biological processes including Cajal body maintenance, cancer cell survival and DNA damage repair. By directing factors to Cajal bodies and DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs), WRAP53β facilitates site-specific interactions necessary for proper biological responses. READ MORE

17. Novel Roles of the Ack1 Kinase in Epithelial Biology
Abstract : Epithelial homeostasis is maintained through integration of diverse signals that regulate cell fate. A strict control of such signals is required to prevent overproliferation and, ultimately, oncogenesis. In this thesis we identify novel roles of Activated Cdc42-associated kinase 1 (Ack1) in maintenance of epithelial homeostasis. READ MORE

18. Transcriptional regulation of ribosomal RNA gene : actin, myosin and beyond
Abstract : In the eukaryotic cell nucleus, actin and nuclear myosin 1c (NM1) are key regulators of RNA polymerase I (Pol I) transcription and function across the entire ribosomal RNA biogenesis pathway. At the gene level, actin interacts with Pol I and together with NM1 they have been suggested to facilitate assembly of Pol I at the gene promoter. READ MORE

19. WRAP53β and scaRNA2 on their journey to repair the DNA
Abstract : WRAP53β is a multifunctional protein involved in several cellular processes like Cajal body formation, telomere maintenance and DNA repair. WRAP53β is responsible for targeting factors to specific cellular locations, and its very high affinity for the scaRNAs could implicate these molecules in similar biological functions. READ MORE

20. Unwrapping the role of WRAP53β in DNA damage response
Abstract : WRAP53β is a WD40 domain protein with multifaceted capabilities in several biological processes in different cellular compartments. This includes transportation of the Survival of motor neuron (SMN) complex, small Cajal body-specific (sca) RNAs and the telomerase enzyme to Cajal bodies, as well as targeting of the E3 ligase RNF8 to DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs).
