6. TRIM21/ Ro52 in B cell pathology
Abstract : Primary Sjögren’s syndrome (pSS) is a systemic autoimmune disease affecting 0.2% of the population. Several B cell aberrances have been linked to pSS, such as autoantibody production, hypergammaglobulinemia and B cell associated genetic polymorphisms. In addition, pSS patients display a 16 fold increased risk to develop B cell lymphomas. READ MORE

7. The mechanism of action of SOCS2 and its role in metabolism and growth
Abstract : A well-known function of Growth Hormone (GH) is the regulation of postnatal longitudinal growth but it also affects other biological processes, for instance metabolism and inflammation. Actions of GH are tightly regulated at several levels and by several different factors and are initiated by GH binding to membrane bound GH receptors (GHR). READ MORE

8. Study the role of patient-specific mutations by genetic disease modeling : From gene to function; A study to understand muscles
Abstract : Many genetic diseases inherited in a dominant fashion have a complex pathological pattern. TOR1A mediated Dystonia-1 (DYT1) is an example of incomplete penetrance, affecting only a third of the carriers. READ MORE

9. Structure-function studies on TRIM21/Ro52, a protein involved in autoimmune diseases
Abstract : Several members of the tripartite motif (TRIM) protein family are involvedin antiviral activity and immunity and have been linked to severaldiseases. TRIM21, the main object of this thesis, is involved in Sjögrensyndrome (SS) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), where patientsoften have autoantibodies against different epitopes on TRIM21. 10. Characterizing important flavivirus-host interactions : Replication, assembly, restriction factors and vaccine development
Abstract : The genus Flavivirus (family Flaviviridae) consists of important zoonotic viruses that cause morbidity and mortality worldwide. These viruses are enveloped and have a positive-sense single-stranded RNA genome encoding a polyprotein. READ MORE
