  1. 1. Genetic Risk Factors for Cervical Carcinoma in situ

    Author : Anna Beskow; Peter L Stern; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Cervical carcinoma; human papillomavirus; viral load; long-term infection; HLA class II; p53; E6 variant; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Medical Genetics; medicinsk genetik;

    Abstract : Oncogenic human papillomaviruses (HPVs) are implicated in 99.7 % of cervical cancer cases but require the co-operation of other factors. To investigate potential genetic risk factors we have typed the HLA class II DRB1 and DQB1 loci in 478 women diagnosed with cervical carcinoma in situ and in 608 age-matched controls. READ MORE

  2. 2. The balance of splicing : A novel insight into the splicing regulation of high-risk HPV E6 and E7 oncogenes

    Author : Johanna Jönsson; Naoko Kajitani; Stefan Schwartz; Ola Forslund; Francesca Aguilo; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; HPV; splice donor; splice acceptor; cis-element; trans-acting factor; pre-mRNA splicing; splicing regulation.; Medical Virology; Medicinsk virologi;

    Abstract : HPV is associated with several cancers. The genome consists of a long control region, early (E1, E2, E4, E5, E6 and E7) and late (L1 and L2) genes. The E6 and E7 proteins prevent cells from entering apoptosis and regulate the cell cycle. A deregulated expression of these can result in malignant transformations. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cervical dysplasia and cervical cancer in pregnancy: diagnosis and outcome

    Author : Cecilia Kärrberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cervical dysplasia; cervical cancer; pregnancy; colposcopic scoring system; regression; persistence; progression; HPV DNA test; HPV mRNA E6 E7 test; p16INK4a;

    Abstract : ABSTRACT:Cervical cancer is one of the most common types of cancer that is diagnosed during pregnancy. The primary aim in investigation of atypical cervical cytology during pregnancy is to exclude cancer so that further treatment of the lesion can be postponed until after delivery. READ MORE

  5. 5. Regulation of HPV16 Early Gene Expression

    Author : Yunji Zheng; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HPV16; splicing; mRNA; hnRNP A1; hnRNP G; E6; E7; E1; E2;

    Abstract : Human papillomavirus type 16 (HPV16) is the most common high-risk type and isassociated with more than 50% cervical cancer cases as well as a number of headand neck cancer cases. The life cycle of HPV16 is strictly linked to celldifferentiation in the squamous epithelium with expression of the HPV16 earlygenes. READ MORE
