  1. 16. EBV membrane protein LMP2A interactions with ubiquitin ligases and a signaling scaffold

    Author : Liudmila Matskova; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Epstein-Barr virus EBV ; Latent membrane protein 2A LMP2A . HECTdomain E3 ubiquitin ligase; Shb signaling scaffold. Akt kinase; Tyrosine phosphorylation.;

    Abstract : Over 90% of the adult human population carries Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV). EBV stays for life, striking a balance with the immune system. The virus evades immune elimination by severely restricting its own gene expression. The latent infection is established with the resting memory type B-cell as the reservoir. READ MORE

  2. 17. Characteristics of EBV-infected B cell lines and B-CLL clones which determine their interaction with lymphocytes

    Author : Javier Federico Avila-Carino; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : EBV; Burkitt Iymphoma; CLL; MLC; antiviral response phenotype; cytokines.;

    Abstract : The results concerning T Iymphocyte mediated recognition of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) carrying Burkitt Iymphoma (BL) cell lines and EBV-infected chronic Iymphocytic leukemia (CLL) B cells contribute to the understanding of the generally harmless host-EBV interaction and may be extrapolated to the fate of normal B cells after EBV infection. The phenotype of EBV negative BL lines resembles resting B cells. READ MORE

  3. 18. Allogeneic stem cell transplantation in children : identification and prevention of complications : adoptive transfer of EBV-immunity

    Author : Åsa Gustafsson Jernberg; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Children; CTL; EBV; Graft-versus-leukaemia; Stemcell transplantation; unrelated;

    Abstract : Allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT) can cure leukaemia, aplastic anaemia, and some inborn errors of metabolism and immunodeficiencies in children. As only 113 of patients who need SCT have an HLA-identical sibling, the use of alternative donors has increased, to over 50% of all paediatric SCTs at our centre. READ MORE

  4. 19. In silico analysis of pathways targeted by EBV infection and malignant transformation

    Author : Ramakrishna Rao Sompallae; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Bioinformatics; systems biology; gene expression analysis; Epstein-Barr virus; Burkitt s lymphoma;

    Abstract : Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a ubiquitous γ-herpes virus with dual cell tropism for human B-lymphocytes and epithelial cells. EBV infection is linked to several malignancies such as Burkitt s lymphoma (BL) and nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). READ MORE

  5. 20. EBV gene variation and epigenetic alterations in asian nasopharyngeal carcinoma and potential clinical applications

    Author : Do Nguyen-Van; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : EBV; EBNA1; LMP1; LMP2A; FR; Q locus; genetic variation; antisense oligonucleotide; CDH13; DNA methylation; epigenetics; nasopharyngeal carcinoma;

    Abstract : The incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), an epithelial tumor, varies remarkably in different geographic regions and human populations. The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), other environmental factors and genetic susceptibility are all considered to be involved in the etiology of this form of cancer and the EBV has been extensively studied in this context.
