  1. 1. Physiological and pathophysiological regulation of ECL-cell activity

    Author : Maria Lundgren; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacy; toxicology; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacognosy; Gastroenterologi; endothelin; gastrin; ischemia-reperfusion; Physiology; Fysiologi; Gastro-enterology; pancreastatin; histamine; microdialysis; ECL-cell; stomach; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi;

    Abstract : The ECL cells are endocrine/paracrine cells located in the acid-producing part of the stomach. They produce and secrete histamine and chromogranin A-derived peptides in response to circulating gastrin. Mobilized histamine stimulates acid secretion from adjascent parietal cells. READ MORE

  2. 2. Interaction between Calcium, Calciotropic Hormones and the Gastrin-ECL-cell Axis

    Author : Rebecca Gagnemo Persson; Hälsofrämjande komplexa interventioner; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacognosy; Pharmacological sciences; rat; chicken; parathyroid gland; stomach; vitamin D; PTH; CT; calciotropic hormones; Gastrin; calcium; ECL cell; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; Histology; cytochemistry; histochemistry; tissue culture; Histologi; cytokemi; histokemi; vävnadskultur;

    Abstract : Calcium homeostasis involves mainly the interaction of PTH, vitamin D and CT. The stomach may be important for calcium homeostasis. Gastric acid is thought to mobilize calcium from the diet, thereby facilitating the absorption of calcium in the small intestines. READ MORE

  3. 3. Histamine and chromogranin A-derived peptides in rat stomach ECL cells

    Author : Per Norlén; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacy; pharmacognosy; Pharmacological sciences; CGRP adrenaline; galanin; VIP; PACAP; somatostatin; gastrin; microdialys; pancreastatin; chromogranin A; histamine; ECL cell; rat stomach; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Abstract : The ECL cells constitute the predominant endocrine cell population of the stomach. They secrete histamine which is a major stimulator of acid secretion. Chormogranin A (CgA)-derived peptides, such as pancreastatin, are co-secreted with histamine. READ MORE

  4. 4. The Gastrin-ECL Cell Axis. Functional Aspects

    Author : Maria Björkqvist; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; Pharmacological sciences; Calcium channels; CCK receptor antagonists; Misoprostol; Galanin; Somatostatin; Pancreastatin; Histamine; VIP; Gastrin; PACAP;

    Abstract : The ECL cells constitute a prominent endocrine cell population in the acid-producing part of the stomach. They are controlled by circulating gastrin released from G-cells in the antrum. In response to gastrin, they secrete histamine, that in turn stimulates the parietal cell to secrete acid. READ MORE

  5. 5. Effect of Cholecystokinin-B/Gastrin Receptor Antagonists on Rat Stomach ECL Cells

    Author : Xi-Qin Ding; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; pharmacognosy; Pharmacological sciences; vävnadskultur; histokemi; cytokemi; Histologi; tissue culture; histochemistry; gastrin; cholecystokinin CCK receptors; ECL cells; CCK-B gastrin receptor antagonists; histidine decarboxylase HDC ; histamine; pancreastatin; chromogranin A CGA ; gastric acid secretion.; cytochemistry; Histology; pharmacy; toxicology; Farmakologi; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi;

    Abstract : The histamine- and pancreastatin- containing ECL cells in the acid-producing mucosa of the rat stomach operate under the control of circulating gastrin. The present work examines how cholecystokinin (CCK)-B/gastrin receptors regulate the activity of the ECL cells. READ MORE
