  1. 1. Predicting Electrochromic Smart Window Performance

    Author : Johnny Degerman Engfeldt; Göran Lindbergh; Carina Lagergren; Kerstin Forsberg; James Gardner; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrochromic; Electrooptics; Smart windows; Prediction model; Large Area Device model;

    Abstract : The building sector is one of the largest consumers of energy, where the cooling of buildings accounts for a large portion of the total energy consumption. Electrochromic (EC) smart windows have a great potential for increasing indoor comfort and saving large amounts of energy for buildings. READ MORE

  2. 2. Optical Characterization and Optimization of Display Components : Some Applications to Liquid-Crystal-Based and Electrochromics-Based Devices

    Author : Iryna Valyukh; Claes-Göran Granqvist; Ewa Wäckelgård; Hans Arwin; Ola Hundery; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ellipsometry; liquid crystal; LCD; optical anizotropy; electrochromic; inverse problems; Optics; Optik; Optical physics; Optisk fysik; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys; Solid State Physics; fasta tillståndets fysik; Information Systems; data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : This dissertation is focused on theoretical and experimental studies of optical properties of materials and multilayer structures composing liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and electrochromic (EC) devices. By applying spectroscopic ellipsometry, we have determined the optical constants of thin films of electrochromic tungsten oxide (WOx) and nickel oxide (NiOy), the films’ thickness and roughness. 3. 3. Charge Transport Modulation and Optical Absorption Switching in Organic Electronic Devices

    Author : Peter Andersson; Magnus Berggren; Ronald Österbacka; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electrochromic; photochromic; PEDOT:PSS; active matrix display; switchable charge traps; printed electronics; switchable polarizer; Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik;

    Abstract : Organic electronics has evolved into a well-established research field thanks to major progresses in material sciences during recent decades. More attention was paid to this research field when “the discovery and development of conductive polymers” was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2000. READ MORE

  4. 4. Upscaling Organic Electronic Devices

    Author : Abdellah Malti; Xavier Crispin; Ananth Dodabalapur; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Conventional electronics based on silicon, germanium, or compounds of gallium require prohibitively expensive investments. A state-of-the-art microprocessor fabrication facility can cost up to $15 billion while using environmentally hazardous processes. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electrochromic Polymer Devices: Active-Matrix Displays and Switchable Polarizers

    Author : Peter Andersson; Magnus Berggren; Nathaniel Robinson; Per Bröms; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : conjugated polymer; PEDOT:PSS; active-matrix; displays; polarizer; polyaniline; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Major efforts have been spent during recent years in worldwide attempts to achieve an electronic paper technology; the common name for novel flexible displays utilizing substrates such as paper, plastics or thin metal sheets. Various kinds of technology are available that potentially will be used for an electronic paper, which differs from each other mainly with respect to the choice of active materials, substrates and manufacturing techniques.
