1. Characterization of nano-scale materials for interconnect and thermal dissipation application in electronics packaging
Abstract : This thesis focuses on studies of nano-scale materials in electronic packaging applications with respect to following aspects: surface analysis of nano-scale oxide of lead-free solder particles, and thermal performance and mechanical property studies of nano-scale fiber and metal composite-based thermal interface materials. The composition and thickness of the solder oxide have a direct impact on the quality of interconnects and the reliability of a packaged system. READ MORE

2. Wind-turbine harmonic emissions and propagation through a wind farm
Abstract : The increasing demand for sustainable energy is one of the driving forces behind the increasing use of wind power by means of wind-turbines in electric power systems. Modern wind turbines commonly employ variable-speed-generator technology associated with a power-electronic converter as part of the grid connection. READ MORE

3. Spectral Mammography with X-Ray Optics and a Photon-Counting Detector
Abstract : Early detection is vital to successfully treating breast cancer, and mammography screening is the most efficient and wide-spread method to reach this goal. Imaging low-contrast targets, while minimizing the radiation exposure to a large population is, however, a major challenge. READ MORE

4. The zone concept : design of low-voltage installations considering the spread of high frequency harmonics
Abstract : The use of electric power has become a backbone of the modern society. Together with the growth in possible applications of electric power, we also see a growth in the number of devices and the interest of using electrical energy as an environmentally-friendly alternative to other sources of energy. 5. Evaluation of biomedical microwave sensors : Microwave sensors as muscle quality discriminators in laboratory and pilot clinical trial settings
Abstract : In this thesis the primary focus is on the evaluation of biomedical microwave sensor to be used in the muscle analyzer system. Lower muscle quality is one indicator that a patient can have sarcopenia. Therefore the muscle analyzer system can be a tool used in screening for sarcopenia. READ MORE
