16. Conflict and Compromise : An Evolutionary Framework for the Design of Multi-Storey Timber Buildings
Abstract : In January 1995, the architect John Frazer’s groundbreaking study, An Evolutionary Architecture, was published to coincide with an exhibition of the same name at the Architectural Association in London. The book proposed a new methodology for the architectural design process, based on a radical repositioning of the role of the architect. READ MORE

17. Microclimate modelling for agrivoltaic systems
Abstract : Increasing global electricity consumption and population growth have resulted in conflicts between renewable energy sources, such as bioenergy and ground-mounted photovoltaic systems, owing to the limited availability of suitable land caused by competing land uses. This challenge is further compounded by the intertwined relationship between energy and agri-food systems, where approximately 30% of global energy is consumed. READ MORE

18. Studies to Avoid Decreased Efficiency in Multiple Stage Biological Wastewater Treatment Plants: Concerning Forests Industry Effluents
READ MORE

19. Robust and Energy Efficient Scheduling
Abstract : Scheduling can generally be described as the act of allocating resources to tasks over time such that a given performance measure is optimized. Traditionally, disturbances are not considered while developing schedules. A rescheduling framework has thus emerged, aiming to minimize the impact of unforeseen disruptions. READ MORE

20. Opposition and adjustment to industrial ‘greening’ : the Swedish forest industry’s (re)actions regarding energy transition – 1989-2009
Abstract : This thesis analyses how the Swedish forest industry has (re)acted regarding the energy transition and, in particular, regarding the reconstruction of the electricity and forest resources in Sweden during the 1989–2009 period. The thesis consists of four papers that analyse how the Swedish forest industry by means of energy management practices at individual pulp and/or paper mills, in corporate strategies performed by CEOs and boards of directors, and via its industry association, has dealt with mounting political and public demands for the industry to become ‘greener’.
