1. The Heterocysts of Nostoc punctiforme : From Proteomics to Energy Transfer
Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to provide a thorough characterization of the photosynthetic machinery from the heterocysts of Nostoc punctiforme strain ATCC 29133. In this thesis I describe the protocols I have optimized for the isolation of thylakoids from vegetative cells, the purification of heterocysts and the isolation of thylakoids from the purified heterocysts. 2. Exciton coupling and energy transfer in perylene-based systems
Abstract : Understanding the nature of photoinduced processes in organic molecules is essential for the design and synthesis of compounds with desired photochemical properties. This dissertation aims for gaining knowledge and mechanistic understanding of energy transfer in perylene-based systems. READ MORE

3. Controlling Charge and Energy Transfer Processes in Artificial Photosynthesis : From Picosecond to Millisecond Dynamics
Abstract : This thesis describes an interdisciplinary project, where the aim is to mimic the initial reactions in photosynthesis. In photosynthesis, the absorption of light is followed by the formation of charge-separated states. The energy stored in these charge-separated states is further used for the oxidation of water and reduction of carbon dioxide. READ MORE

4. Photoinduced Electron and Energy Transfer in Π-Conjugated Systems
Abstract : Photosynthesis is a fascinating process that provides food and oxygen. In this thesis, focus is on understanding and controlling the early processes of photosynthesis, namely photoinduced energy and electron transfer. READ MORE

5. Energy Transfer Patterns in Photosynthetic Antenna System of Purple Bacteria
Abstract : Steady state and time-resolved absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy have been used to investigated the energy transfer in photosynthetic purple bacteria. Picosecond light pulses were used in measurements of Rb. READ MORE
