  1. 1. Research and reflections on European air pollution policy support models

    Author : Stefan Åström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Economic perspectives; Decomposition analysis; Policy support modelling; Short-lived Climate Pollutants; Climate metrics; Air pollution; International shipping; Economic methodology; Integrated assessment modelling; Cost-benefit analysis;

    Abstract : European emissions to air of SO2, NOx, PM2.5, NH3 and NMVOC still today cause harm to human health and the environment. These pollutants are associated with the premature death of ~400 000 people annually in the EU (25 000 perished in traffic accidents 2017). Improvements are expected but problems will persist. 2. 2. Spatial prediction tools for biodiversity in environmental assessment

    Author : Mikael Gontier; Berit Balfors; Ulla Mörtberg; Davide Geneletti; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EIA; SEA; Species distribution modelling; Habitat suitability modelling; Impact prediction; GIS; Urbanisation; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Human activities in the form of land use changes, urbanisation and infrastructure developments are major threats to biodiversity. The loss and fragmentation of natural habitats are great obstacles for the long term preservation of biodiversity and nature protection measures alone may not be sufficient to tackle the problem. Abstract : Particulate matter suspended in air (i.e. aerosol particles) exerts a substantial influence on the climate of our planet and is responsible for causing severe public health problems in many regions across the globe. READ MORE

  4. 4. Emissions of volatile organic compounds from wood

    Author : Karin Granström; Bengt Månsson; Ann-Margret Strömvall; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VOC; terpenes; drying; wood; emissions; spouted bed; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik; Miljö- och energisystem; Environmental and Energy Systems;

    Abstract : The central aim of this thesis is to support the efforts to counteract certain environmental problems caused by emissions of volatile organic compounds. The purpose of this work was (1) to develop a method to establish the amount of emitted substances from dryers, (2) to determine the effect of drying medium temperature and end moisture content of the processed material on emissions of monoterpenes and other hydrocarbons, (3) to examine the emissions of monoterpenes during production of pellets, and (4) to examine the natural emissions from forests with an eye to implications for modelling. 5. 5. Extending Wastewater Treatment Process Models for Phosphorus Removal and Recovery : A Framework for Plant-Wide Modelling of Phosphorus, Sulfur and Iron

    Author : Kimberly Solon; Industriell elektroteknik och automation; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Benchmark Simulation Model; Anaerobic Digestion Model; Activated Sludge Model; Physico-chemistry; Phosphorus removal; Nutrient recovery;

    Abstract : As problems associated with shortage in resource supply arise, wastewater treatment plants turn to innovation to transform themselves into resource recovery facilities. Water groups worldwide recognize that wastewater treatment plants are no longer disposal facilities but rather sources of clean water, energy and nutrients. READ MORE
