1. Water Relaxation Processes as Seen by NMR Spectroscopy Using MD and BD Simulations
Abstract : This thesis describes water proton and deuterium relaxation processes, as seen by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, using Brownian Dynamics (BD) or Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations. The MD simulations reveal new detailed information about the dynamics and order of water molecules outside of a lipid bilayer. READ MORE

2. Free radical dosimetry employing ESR spectroscopy for clinical use
Abstract : In all radiation therapy treatment it is important to thoroughly determine the absorbed dose in the tumour, in surrounding normal tissue and in risk organs. The dose distributions are usually calculated by means of computerised dose-planning systems. READ MORE

3. Crystal structure studies of a new series of molybdovanadate polyanions and some related vanadates
Abstract : The determination of complexes formed in weakly acidic aqueous solutions containing pentavalent vanadium as well as hexavalent molybdenum has proved diffi cui t due to slow equilibria and 1 imi ted sol ubi 1 i ty of especially the vanadium species. The formation of several different polynuclear complexes with a very varied molybdenum/vanadium ratio also complicates the interpretation of Potentiometrie data. READ MORE

4. Primary reactions in crystalline salts of tartaric acids, α-amino acids and monochloroacetic acid studied by pulse radiolysis and ESR spectroscopy
Abstract : Primary reactions in irradiated single crystals of salts of tartaric acids, a-amino acids and monochloroacetic acid have been studied by pulse radiolysis and ESR spectroscopy. The primary products are formed by the loss or capture of an electron and are referred to as oxidation and reduction products. READ MORE

5. Lipase-Lipid Interactions Studied by Site-Directed Labeling and Biological Spectroscopy
Abstract : This thesis describes the study of lipase–lipid interactions of the triglyceride lipase Thermomyces lanuginosus lipase, TLL, by use of site-directed chemical labeling and biological spectroscopy. Several single-cysteine variants of TLL were produced, and labeled with probes containing either an affinity-, a fluorescence- or a spin-label functionality. READ MORE
