  1. 1. Vascular Endothelin and Angiotensin Receptors Regulation in Inflammatory Arterial Disorders

    Author : Ivan Dimitrijevic; Lund Medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ischemic heart disease; resistance artery; giant cell arteritis; temporal artery; immunohistochemistry; AT2 receptor; AT1 receptor; Endothelin-1; ETA receptor; ETB receptor;

    Abstract : The present thesis is aimed to examine the hypothesis that the degree of vascular inflammation correlates with the expression of vascular endothelin and angiotensin receptors. The receptor changes were studied in subcutaneous resistance arteries in patients with different degrees of ischemic heart disease (IHD). READ MORE

  2. 2. Endothelin receptor changes during inflammation in the lung

    Author : Bengt Granström; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Andningsorganen; Respiratory system; Upregulation; Smooth muscle cells; Smoking; Sephadex; Remodeling; Rat; mRNA; Human; ETB receptor; ETA receptor; Lung; Endothelin; Asthma bronchiale; Contraction;

    Abstract : Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is an extremely potent smooth muscle spasmogen well known from the vascular system but also active within the airways. The importance of its proinflammatory and co-mitogenic properties has become increasingly evident, the endothelin system also having been shown to mimic the signal features of asthma, COPD and other pulmonary diseases. 3. 3. Receptor Upregulation and MAPK Activity in Arteries and Bronchi Following Secondhand Smoke Exposure

    Author : Lei Cao; Lund Medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coronary arteries; cerebral arteries; 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor; endothelin receptor; secondhand smoke exposure; bronchi;

    Abstract : Cigarette smoking is a major risk factor for cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. Contractile receptor changes have been observed in several vascular diseases. The intracellular mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways are suggested to be associated with receptor upregulation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Vascular receptor changes in ischemic stroke

    Author : Emelie Stenman; Lund Medicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Vascular receptor changes; Ischemic stroke; Endothelin; Angiotensin; Cardiovascular system; Kardiovaskulära systemet; Pharmacological sciences; pharmacognosy; pharmacy; farmakognosi; farmaci; toxikologi; toxicology; Farmakologi;

    Abstract : The present thesis aimed to examine how ischemic stroke affects the vascular endothelin and angiotensin systems in cerebral arteries. To study vascular receptor changes in ischemic stroke transient focal ischemia was induced in rats. READ MORE

  5. 5. Neurohormonal Modulators in the Parathyroid Gland. Localization and regulation

    Author : Lena Luts; Malmö Patologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Receptor; In situ hybridization; Immunocytochemistry; Nitric Oxide Synthase; Endothelin; Neuropeptides; Chromogranin; Parathyroid adenoma; Parathyroid gland; Parathyroid hormone; mRNA; Endocrinology; secreting systems; diabetology; Endokrinologi; sekretion; diabetologi;

    Abstract : The occurrence and distribution of neurohormonal peptides, neuroendocrine markers and receptors in parathyroid nerve fibers and endocrine cells are described, using immunocytochemistry, in situ hybridization, image analysis and reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction. Immunocytochemical studies revealed that parathyroid glands of chicken, rat, guinea-pig, cat, dog and sheep contained adrenergic-, cholinergic-, and peptide-containing nerve fibers. READ MORE
